MigsG Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 I don't have an exact box code, by my fellow FOHer who I procured it from says it's an '18. I don't remember the wrapper being light. The last one I had had a dark almost maduro wrapper. In any case, scent at cold is aromatic. I get honey, cacao, maybe even some sweet spice. First few puffs are already full flavored and I'm thinking this is fantastic. See, I've been smoking a few a day last few days, including some strong NCs, so it felt like my taste buds were a little overwhelmed this morning. But even the dullest tongue will taste this. You can't miss the bold dark coffee and dark cacao cream. There's probably earth, but I barely taste it. I can't stop puffing on this, and even if I smoke if fast, it doesn't get bitter. There's just enough sweetness to remove what should be bitterness from the coffee, but not enough to taste it, if that makes sense. Midway through, it seems to lose the cacao, but I'm still getting a good amount of dark coffee. This is black coffee in a cigar. More earthiness too. Last third was still great, although it seems to have toned down in intensity to a medium. Never turns bitter, loads of dark coffee, earth, cacao again. Just tasty. Great little smoke that lasts me a good 45 mins. I'd give this a good 93, liking these more than the BPC I've had as of late. I decide to light a little Davidoff Nicaragua to smoke beside it at some point and while the Davidoff has good flavor, it's milder and even less creamy (think dark coffee creamy) than the No. 3. I'd have a No. 3 over this Davidoff any time. Conclusion, this Boli is for me a fantastic little cigar, doesn't waste time letting you know how it tastes like. 4
NSXCIGAR Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Boli No. 3 has always been an underappreciated gem. Hate the vitola and the price but the blend is great. Little rich firecrackers. Sad to see them go this year if the rumor is true. I don't smoke them much but I just like knowing they exist. 1
topdiesel Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 I love the tubos No. 3 and smoke them regularly. That's one of the nicest looking #3s I have ever seen. In my experience they are not usually lookers. The one in your picture is a beauty and looks more like the the no 1 or 2 wrappers. 1
Derboesekoenig Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Love Boli tubos, even if they're slowly being axed. By the way, how do you smoke 2 different cigars at once? Is this a usual occurrence? I can barely concentrate on one

There's a place for these in my annual rotation - winter time is when I look for them. They are indeed great little cigars. 21 hours ago, topdiesel said: I love the tubos No. 3 and smoke them regularly. That's one of the nicest looking #3s I have ever seen. I was surprised too, it was beautiful and smelled great. 19 hours ago, Derboesekoenig said: Love Boli tubos, even if they're slowly being axed. I can barely concentrate on one I started doing this last month, not every single time, but whenever I wanted to compare an NC that I thought had similarities to a CC. It's not that difficult. Initially start with either the CC or NC. In this case, the Boli was first, smoked till past halfway. Then I lit the NC. The NCs stay lit much longer than a CC so you can take your time puffing the CC, tasting the smoke, even putting it down, picking it back up after 45 seconds to a minute, puffing again a couple of times and really chewing on the smoke - before you need to pick up the NC and have a couple of puffs. You can see in this case that the CC is the target of my attention. Alternatively, I smoke an NC for a bit and if it starts to disappoint or never gets going to where I enjoy it, I'll light up the CC I have that I know won't disappoint. I'll still smoke the NC beside it but not expect anything, since the CC is now satisfying my taste buds. Smoke till I tire of the NC, at which point I have the CC which finishes beautifully. You should try it. You'll never be disappointed with time wasted on a bad cigar. I do this especially when I have an NC I have never tried before.
