Popular Post Rhinoww Posted January 18, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2020 Serendipity strikes with this review weekend. Boli review weekend – whoohoo. Sure, there will be quite a few reviews of the BBF. It’s a forum favorite for a reason. It’s a joy. The BRC will get some love. It’s a robusto after all, a size favored by many. The Boli PC – well it’s a standard for many, a gateway to understanding the glory that can be found in the smaller sticks, so it too will have its reviews. The runt of the Boli litter would seemingly be the Corona Junior, coming in at 42x110. Will it be worth the short smoke? Being a Boli fan, I started a thread some time ago about the CJ back in October, and was curious if the CJ was in anyone’s regular (winter) rotation like some of the other smaller sticks/minutos. I have plenty of Party Shorts, RASC, etc my winter mix, but not the CJ. I would reach for a PC when the Boli mood struck. Curiosity was soon sparked some more when in November the proverbial runt of the litter had a special PSP appearance on 24:24. Notwithstanding a lack of space in the Coolidor, I sent a quick email to Di (who some weeks last year got more emails from me than my own wife). The CJ box pictured below arrived promptly and in great shape. It had a lovely earthy rich tobacco smell of a fine box of cigars. MSU NOV 18 After a bit more than 7 weeks of rest, I’m ready to try the first stick from this box. I have to say, one thing about this hobby is that it has helped me develop some patience – and yes, I know I should have waited 90 days before I tried the first one, but hey – it’s a Boli review weekend. Truth be told, I’m really hoping these are ready to go. I have a trip coming up in March to Vegas and while I will be bringing along some larger sticks for after dinner, I need some shorter flavorful sticks for the day (and to hand out to my buddies). Sure I have some other options, but it would be nice to add this one to the rotation. Here we go. Cold draw was unremarkable First draw when lit had almost a sweet fruity taste. It doesn’t hold. Dense smoke. Draw was smooth. Spice grows on the palate as smoke lingers. Aftertaste has dark chocolate overtones I think I’m liking this box. MSU from 18 gave me high hopes. So far it’s not disappointing as the flair of the first third gets going w increasing intensity of flavors and with some nicotine in that little wrapper. I’m not seeing much filler here. Slight uneven burn so a small touch up. Ash was very light and a chunk blown off by my torch. Frankly I was concerned about mongrel. None noted. We are ready to roll here. I did not dry box and as the second third starts I note a bit of swelling by the lit end. It’s also starting to rain so wonky humidity. Hope to finish this shorty before I get too wet. Flavor mellows and the smoke is creamy. Aftertaste is what this stick is about. It is complex and tasty. Nicotine settles down quite a bit. I almost hate to say it but at the halfway mark my itch for a cigar is largely scratched. I’ll keep that in mind for really cold days. Final third is like saying goodbye to a good friend you will see again soon. You know what you are getting, you enjoy it, and you will see it again soon. Rich smoke. Oh my would this pair well with coffee or bourbon. Getting more spice but still delicate. More dark chocolate to me. Nothing harsh at all. Still an uneven burn on the same side as before. Ring the bell boys. I’ll be getting more of these. This is what the hunt is all about. Finding a cigar that one really likes. I bought these to compliment the Boi PC. They certainly do that well. They may be taking the party Short role over periodically as well. Hmmm. Only one box right now..... 13
slowsmoke Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Nice review. Good to hear you're liking them, I've got a couple boxes of this same code sleeping. These were one of the first cigars that really gave me the urge to go deep.
