CaptainQuintero Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 The last box i got was the Quintero Brevas. Im expecting to pick up the Cohiba Maduro 5 Secretos today. Hopefully it checks out at HSA's webpage.. Other than the bar code, bands, and the taste of the cigar, any other tips to verify the authenticity? Taste is probably your best friend along with packaging. Although if you are in any doubt don't use the vendor I'm pretty sure Rob has mentioned before that if you want a list of vendors he trusts in the part of the world you are in, just give him an email 1

May i know who Rob is btw?
shlomo Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Thanks man! May i know who Rob is btw? his handle is el presidente, and as the name implies, he owns this forum along with being a cigar merchant based out of australia. 1
CUBANO Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Only thing that has me curious as when I enter the Stamp Code on the Habanos website, all of the boxes matched except for the RyJ Wide Churchills. Website says its a 2010 Box, and the box code has JUN13. Don't worry about it. Pepe probably had to much Havana Club the night before, and couldn't remember what year it was.
Laxman Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Could only get him to sell 5 of PL Magnificos but I will take it! 4
CaptainQuintero Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Could owe get him to sell 5 of PL Magnificos but I will take it! Eeep that's a quick way to spend $500! You lit one up yet?
ejewell Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I'm no heavy hitter but this is my first box from Di and the Pres. Couldn't be happier with a first box!
Bartolomeo Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Could only get him to sell 5 of PL Magnificos but I will take it! See you next week in Boca
maxcjs0101 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 They smell quite nice and the code checks out at HSA webpage. But i find that the bands are a little loose and can be removed easily. To those who have these before, should i be worried?

Nah you're fine , it's a blessing to have loose bands for me, I prefer to remove them but most of the time they are glued solid to the wrapper :/ 1

Since you're here, given a choice between Quintero Brevas and Jose Piedra Cazadores, which will you go for?
CaptainQuintero Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Thanks.. Since you're here, given a choice between Quintero Brevas and Jose Piedra Cazadores, which will you go for? The Piedra petit cazadorez and Quintero Panetela are the best of each marca imo, rich honest smokes with no expectations beyond a simple, sweet and enjoyable 40 min

To those who have these before, should i be worried? I would be worried if that's the cuban seal/hologram sitting there next to the box.... If that wasn't stuck to a box, then I would be worried...

maxcjs0101 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Unless that's the outside cardboard box. If so, then just ignore me.... Yeah, HSA sticks the seal on the cardboard boxes.
pbibby Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Yeah my bad. It looked like that was the wall behind it in the picture and the seal was just sitting there. My bad. No worries on that end, and don't worry too much about loose bands.
finecigar Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Usually just like to look through this thread but I thought I'd participate. February has been a successful month for my collection! Can't wait for more to come. Best box forsure the 1998 Bolivar CE! If you could only attach the smell here. Heavenly! Also purchased HUHC box and lots of singles! 2

What's the deal with the naked Fonsecas? What happened to the rice paper? Thats a GREAT haul. Enjoy.
finecigar Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Thanks! I hate the rice paper honestly . I always just dispose of it for some reason.
