Prices will be coming down any day now

Good news for us critics...

Heresy!!! ??? Seriously, those are two of my favorites.  But, I’m with you on the San Juan. I also don’t get nearly as excited about the Party E2 as most others do.

I must say that in general I've not been very impressed with the LE in general!

I consider Cohibas to be overpriced, which is not overrated. I just feel I don't get what I deserve for the extra you pay for these.

Edit: Just my opinon but the Arturo Fuente are also wa too overhyped, but coulors and tastes are different from one dude to another.

I think BBF outsells BRC by a significant margin here @El Presidente? Certainly BBF is the world's best-selling Boli.

Got no authoritative numbers, and Rob might be able to fill us in based on his volumes moved, but I have always been of the impression that the Royal Corona is what is smoked most today. It's the by far the most popular Bolívar with the highest production numbers (well, it's a Robusto!). You could and can find them always and everywhere - in duty-free (on even the smallest ferry), in the humblest tobacco shop (and more so than the BT series, the BRC is always at hand tubed and non-tubed). It's a Boli staple. Online as well, I have never seen them being in short supply. The BoliBeli on the other hand?

But anyway, it's overrated - still.  :P

2019 Over/Under Cigars

Overrated: QDO 50 and 54. Not bad cigar just not the wow factor that's driving up demand.

Underrated: ERDM Choix Supreme. Price/Flavor/Construction all on point this year for me.

Partagas E2. Walked right past a box a couple of months ago, without a second thought. My buddy snatched them up with a giddy excitement.

Monte #2’s have been way off, as of late. IMHO...

How do we know that? And Robustos are far from the most popular vitolas. Only the PSD4 and Epi 2 make the top 10 sellers list. CoRo is likely a far third or fourth behind the Siglo I, II & III. And while the PSD4 is the best-selling CC the Monte 3 & 4 combined almost double PSD4 sales.

Perhaps BRC's ubiquity at duty frees and small shops indicates a lack of sales. I agree--it never seems to be out of stock but that is only inferential information. Boli is a low-selling marca worldwide. It's got a reputation for strength that turns a lot of people off. The conversation with the help always starts with if they like mild or strong, and of course the customer is scared by "strong", so the ignorant employee steers them away from Boli. I've seen it a hundred times at the LCDH. Then they suggest JLS2 and I have to point out no no, the JLS2 is actually much stronger than the BRC!

And of course for some reason the Epi 2 is the go-to cigar to recommend for anyone who walks in saying they're a novice or the cigars are gifts and/or they're not sure but they think their father/uncle/brother likes milder cigars...

Again, I would bet a Party Chicos that @El Presidente will confirm BBF is by far the best selling Boli. I could also ask Ravi which would be much more informative as his volume is quite high.

And yes, BBF is still overrated.

Anyone who says RASS try some PSP they are on another level, in fact most of  the high production cigars come down to just bad QC

I've smoked at least 100 RASS since 2001 of all quality levels and while some were better than others I'm still waiting to "get" this cigar.

To contrast, RASCC, RAG and RAS are cigars I always "get" even though I'm not a fan of RAG and have moved away from RASCC in recent years.

RASS has always been the outlier of the marca for me.

Kinda shocked to see the Fonseca No. 1 pop up so much. Feel free to send them my way ?

I'd say for me

HU2

BBF

Some RASS

I like most Cohibas but they are hard to justify based on their premium price.

I wouldn't say overrated, but rather, I just don't get the utility that others do. My buds just aren't wired that way.

Cohiba Siglo VI, Cohiba Robusto Supremo, RA SCC

I don't think they're overrated, just too damn big...in the ring gauge department. Why are all these high dollar new releases 52 rg or bigger? Because people won't spend the coin for a 42 rg? As much as I like the HDM Especial (or whatever) that is 55 rg? , it's not my go to. A corona or Partaga 898 is...because of flavor! If they took the Baseball bats (as Ken calls them) made 2 cigars out of them, they would make as much coin, or more, and I will bet a box Fundi's they taste better!

I don't feel the following are over-rated, rather they're not to my preference if they are young; as in, 12 to 24 months...

  • Ramon Allones Specially Selected
  • Juan Lopez Seleccion No.2
  • H.Upmann Magnum 46
  • Montecristo Petit Edmundo
  • Partagas Serie D No.4

I've had great examples of these cigars, but I don't tend to connect with them if youthful.
