For you guys that smoke in your vehicles regularly, do you have any tips on masking the lingering smell in the vehicle?   Like most business owners, it’s owned by the company and I trade it in every 2 years just under 100k miles (I drive a ton...hence the reason I’d like to smoke in the truck). Aside from the loss in trade-in value due to smell, I also don’t want my customers (and my wife) riding with me in a truck that smells like an ashtray.   If you have any savvy advice for masking or removing the scent altogether, I’d like to hear it.  Thanks.

Crack a window, create back pressure by turning up the fan and make sure the vents are set to not recirculate. Keep a can of Ozium handy. I've gotten away with rental car smoking for a few years

I have the cure all. Grab a $60 negative ion generator amd leave it in your car overnight with the windows up. These WILL KILL YOU. They eat the lining in your lung. Fear not though because when it's

Yes.  Sometimes I think there is no more smell, and then someone who doesn’t smoke gets in the car and tells me they can smell it.   .....The obvious solution to the problem is to only ha

I read on here (or maybe the Canadian Cigar forum) that open coffee grinds both mask the smell, but also apparently "pull" some of the smell in (like a sponge).

(un-brewed grinds of course)

To be quite frank with you. Do not smoke non Cubans in the vehicle. They stink it up mighty fierce. I can smoke a Cuban though in the car and get in the next morning and there’s no smell.

Also there’s this little green bottle of deodorizer. A drop or two will remove most of the scent. I can’t remember the name of it right now but I’ll post it when I get home.

That’s what they use is cologne store so sounds like a good idea. I‘d love to smoke in the car but don’t because I’ve always felt like it’s impossible to mask. Tell me I’m wrong!

First thing is it should be a leather interior; cloth will smell for sure as time goes on. Probably best to have rubber floor mats to reduce the amount of exposed carpet.

It’s leather with weathertech mats covering most of the carpet.  What about the cloth interior roof liner?   That’s my main concern and the exposed carpet.

I've gotten away with rental car smoking for a few years now since they instituted the "cleaning charges" and only got busted out once. Never burn one on the way to turn in.....

You give me hope.  If you can pull it off on a rental that’s reassuring.  Looks like next purchase is Ozium.

Can’t hurt to put a can of open coffee grounds under the seat.  I’m guessing a tube similar to the tubes that hold heartfelt humidification beads would do the trick...or the foot of a pair of pantyhose (my wife’s, obviously...no offense to those guys that may enjoy wearing them themselves...)

dumb question: do you know if they need to be dry grounds or moistened?

I asked the same question earlier in the year. These suggestions were very helpful.

Much appreciated.  I searched “car smoking” and didn’t stumble on this thread.  Thank you.

Anyone ever notice the flight attendants will put a coffee bag in the head after a particularly spectacular visit by a passenger? Must be something to this.....

Yep.  The smallest crack down of only One window creates a vacuum effect and will suck the vast majority of smoke out of the cabin.  Never recirc and be sure to direct the air vents away from your lit cigar as you hold it near the cracked open window.  Otherwise they will blow the smoke around the inside of the cabin.

Dryer sheets inside the car will remove/mask odors as well.

I also have a small cigarette lighter powered ozone generator that does a very good job.

All greats ideas and suggestions. Rubber mats, windows cracked and down overnight. Those little tree air fresheners work good too... I vacuum a lot and wash the car at minimum weekly. Defiantly ionizer works. I work in the car business and we have a few, randomly I throw it in for lunch and take back out after lunch and ALL smells are gone, but it has a chemical smell so be careful how long you use it if you go this route.
I would strongly discourage ashing in the car only out the window and never put it out in the car. This seems to make the smell linger and then u can’t get it out and it’s a bad lingering smell of smoke and cigar smoke is worse than cigarette smoke in this aspect. Very strong.
also cc mostly nc is def stronger and has a more intense of a smell to me at least.

Actually, the coffee beans are for the customer to sniff inbetween fragrances.
