Popular Post prodigy Posted November 4, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 4, 2019 I know, I know... not much love for gurkha out there. These are a few years old and I forgot I had them. The ones I had before were spectacular, and this one was no different. Thought it would be fun to review for the comp this weekend. The wrappers on these a some of the best I've ever seen, on any cigar, ever. AFAIK, these were only available in a special humidor, typical of gurkha haha. I only had a 5 or 10 pack to try. The first third opens up with a magical filet mignon/charred steak flavor with some salty sour dough lingered in and out. It's so unique, it took me a while to put the flavor into words, and that's the best I can come up with. It was a rather linear smoke, with not much changing, however the intensity of flavor did steadily increase. The final third became bitter and added some coffee flavors to the mix. All in all, I dont think I'd ever buy them again. It's a nice smoke and a great change of pace from my normal rotation. The overall experience was high 80s, it would have been 90+ if it had some kind of transition or more layers of flavor. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk 8
WABOOM Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 I just don't understand how that brand exists. 1
prodigy Posted November 4, 2019 Author Posted November 4, 2019 I just don't understand how that brand exists. It is an odd business model. Make "rare" cigars with an extraordinary price. Sell them on sale for 80% off...Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk 3
Vito Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 Yeah, I like that cigar. Way overpriced if you buy them outright from like Cigars International......I think it's like a $1000 for a box of 50. The box is cool but c'mon. The Gurkha Heritage was surprisingly good too. I guess he's now sourcing tobacco from Aganorsa so that would explain some of the upswing in quality as of late. But they still have plenty of shitsticks too. But if you think about it, so does Habanos. I know for me, it's Kazaid's arrogant way he just assumes everyone is a gullible moron and is going to believe the crap he spouts out of his mouth. I don't like him. Some of his cigars are good though. None that I can say are great though. Good review.
Islandboy Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 Gotta admit, that’s an intriguing flavor profile. I think. I’m all for variety and unique experiences. Thanks for sharing.
Cigar Surgeon Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 I am not a Gurkha apologist but an important distinction to understand: Gurkha has a catalogue brand which is on par with what you would expect from all catalogue brands. They also have B&M brands which are orders of magnitude better, IMO.
Puros Y Vino Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 @Cigar Surgeoncough cough Gurka aplogist cough cough!! All kidding aside. Good perspective there John. I certainly didn't realize that.

I certainly didn't realize that. Most people don't, especially regular NC smokers. They'll smoke a catalogue brand and then it's reflective of the entire brand portfolio. But it's like - "What did you expect for a $4 cigar? Seriously?" 1
DLtoker Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 Sounds like one of the good ones. I had the Widowmaker and enjoyed that one... Once. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
