How do you travel with a bundle of cigars you plan to smoke on your trip?

I have a leather sleeve that fits cigars up to a 50 ring. The problem is that it only fits two cigars and really is only good to protect my sticks for a night on the town. It also doesn’t seal so longer term trips are a challenge. 
 

looking around on the web there are a variety of purpose built sealed boxes that say they can hold between 5 and 15 sticks. Some are speedy and others have reviews that seem to indictate the plastic never finished gassing off. prices are all over the place. 
 

there are also presumably some “Home made” travel cases  that protect the cigars and allow for some humidity control. perhaps a  Tupperware a bovedas and some foam?

I have a business trip coming up a where I would like to bring a handful of nice sticks. I also have an annual trip w my boys where I tend to bring 10-15 sticks. 
 

Curious to hear what this esteemed group uses And whether you made your own our bought something

I roll each cigar in cellophane.  They'll stay humid for a month.  I also like to bring cigars in cardboard three packs and then vacuum seal the box.  This way I can just leave with my laptop or carry on bag and know I will cigars ready to smoke.  They stay humid for quite some time. 

Rolling the individual cigars makes it easy to grab a cigar on the go from the hotel and not worry about damaging it.  I put a small cut piece of paper along with the cellophane to help unroll the cigar; the seam can be very hard find after the fact.

Xikar (or similar) travel cases work well and come in all different sizes and are value-priced. Throw in a Boveda if humidity is a concern.

Any xikar case will do you just fine. I have had a 10 count case for 5 years. Works great.

This goes with me, usually 20 - 25 sticks.  Present from my wife, not sure where she found it, but works like a cha rm.

Those plastic 10/15 cigar holders can hold more cigars if you take out the foam, slotted inserts.  I have a Xicar 10 count travel humidor. Once I remove the foam I can get roughly get 20/25 cigars in there.  Toss in a Boveda 62/65RH pack and you're good to go.

I got a xicar hard case with foam. Will hold 5 Churchill sizes or maybe 10 if you mix and match sizes. I love it. You can throw in a small boveda and not have to worry about jostle during travel.

Not sure if foam dries out, but when not in use I leave the boveda in the case.

I have been using the same 2 otter boxes for the last 20 years or so.  So it depends how long my trip is.  1 holds up to 15 cigars, and the other holds around 40 or 50.  So if the trip is more than a week, I take both.?

Its tough to beat the price of Tupperware and a boveda. Of course you can spend $2000 on an alligator case if you want ultimate protection for your Behikes. I took 30 cigars to Fl a couple weeks ago in tupperware in my carryon and it worked perfectly. If you want to carry on a lighter be sure the tank is empty.

I use a Pelican 1060 Micro Case for carrying more than a few sticks.  They are like $20 on amazon, bullet proof, air tight.  Use an extra ziplock or two as padding to keep the sticks from bouncing around.

Sistema Klip-it are also great little tupperwares, come in various sizes, are strong and have a good seal.

Sistema Tupperware (it literally comes in all sizes!) and boveda. If you hate the way it looks, cover it in stickers. Mine cost $2 from Home Goods.

Since these came out, I always wondered, isn’t this just an OtterBox with a Xikar label on it?

If not, I have to wonder why OtterBox hasn’t sued them.  Looks like the exact same design.

Yes.  Otterbox was a company that made waterproof cases for people that liked to fish.  They made cases for cigars, for cameras, guns, etc.  Anything that you might bring on a boat that you don't want to get wet.  

Their cigar cases, were called the Cigar Caddy.  

Interestingly, I just went to their website, and all I could find are iPhone cases, something they obviously didn't make back then, and a few other things, like coolers.  I didn't see any cigar cases.  Maybe I didn't look hard enough?  But then I found that Cigar Caddy has it’s own website.  Perhaps OtterBox separated them from the rest of their products?

Back then, they were pretty much the only game in town.  If Xikar even existed yet, it was only as a cutter company.

I’ve also done some searching for waterproof cases and waterproof survival cases. Seems like there are some very similar options that are not marketed for cigars, some at lower costs, particularly on eBay and AliExpress. 

I ordered one for around $5. Will see what it actually looks like when it arrives in a few months. Has the foam, silicone seal and toggle locks that look solid per the photos. 

Until it arrives, I’ll likely be using Tupperware and some foam or bubble wrap.

I've ordered one in the past. $2 on Ali. Different plastic than Xikars' have. Definitely softer but works perfectly.

Yup. Looked like they had two kinds on Ali. One where the latches were part of the plastic body and one where the latches (and back) were attached w metal parts. I went w the latter for $5.

A ziplock in a Tupperware works well......the ziplock keeps the sticks from rolling around and getting damaged. 

 

or a ziplock in a cigar box...……..if you have room.

I used to carry my Zero Halliburton case around when in my local area, and then the smaller Zero Diplomat case when travelling.  I got tired of lugging both around, and now just use Ziploc baggies.
