Bruce played the longest "standard" concert I've attended...over 3.5 hours of entertainment, and that was in 2012...so not the youngest Bruce!

the man has incredible stamina.

this one in 2014 is the best i have seen of his, i believe. quite a few very close. it went a tad under 4 hours. includes them playing the entire album of the wild, the innocent...

and started with, of all things, 'staying alive', with a bank of women in long evening gowns playing violins. blew us all away.

at some stage during his concerts, i have heard every song of his that i wanted to hear, bar one, 'For You'. he has never played that at anything i have been at.

The best concerts I saw live would be George Michael, Bad Brains with Agnostic Front, or Barry White. The one I missed, if I could see any band ever live would be ABBA.

At first I thought it meant best concert you went to but missed because you got high and passed out or spent the evening dry humping and sucking face with your future ex wife. Then I reread it.

The greatest: The Warlocks Hampton Coliseum, Hampton Virginia.  October 8-9 1989 The Grateful Dead were banned from playing the town of Hampton Virginia, so they booked the concerts und

ps - even though the tag says it was a concert in 2020, it was not. this was in brisbane in 2014.

@Hammer Smokin' Just a quick shout out for having John Candy/Uncle Buck as your avatar ?One of the last great 80's flicks. Ok, back to music..

Met Mr Candy when I was a youngen. He was side by side with Wayne Gretzky. (meeting both at the same time, was, well ridiculous).

My uncle, who was a big CFL player (Ang Mosca) brought me back to meet them. John was so friendly, just as you would expect. Wayne was...awkward.

Strangely enough, I got a nice framed Photo, personalized autograph of Wayne (To Steve, Your friend, Wayne Gretzky). To be honest, if I was to do it over, I would have asked the same, but from John.

Might be my greatest childhood memory. (I was 11 years old)

Not a big Springsteen fan, so...NO??‍♀️

i fully understand, but as they say - two sorts of people in the world. those who are springsteen fans and those yet to enjoy the revelation and becoming one.

Is that what "they" say? ?

As an American who grew up in the 70s and 80s, I have heard my fair share of Bruce, so no "revelation" will be coming. And I fully acknowledge that he is quite talented. (Unlike many people nowadays, I realize that me not liking an artist doesn't mean that artist has no talent) He just doesn't do it for me. In 51 years on this planet, I have never uttered the words "I need to hear some Bruce". Neither aloud nor in my head. Different strokes.

Bowie for me is what Springsteen is for you. My sincere apologies. ?

bowie i can understand.

Haha, that sums it up pretty good. Asbury Park was an absolute masterpiece, and I like Born to Run but everything after that, meh…

Coming of age in So Cal in the late 60s and early 70s I went to a lot of amazing concerts… Stones, Zep, Pink Floyd, Who, Moody Blues, Neil Young, Chicago, Queen, Eagles, just to name a few. Lots of single acts like Tom Waits, Emmylou Harris, Merle Haggard and Dan Hicks in the smaller clubs like the Troubador, Roxy and Palomino. Saw the Allman Bros in an old movie theater in Long Beach. Elton John at the Greek from the 4th row when the place was half full. Saw Bowie at the Hollywood Pallidium in the early 70's when he was doing the Ziggy Stardust tour. Mind blown! Kinks at the Palladium was beyond epic. Several dozen Dead shows from San Diego to Seattle. A long list from a mis-spent youth :-)

Really wish I could have seen the Doors and Jimi Hendrix.

Well, I was alive when Led Zeppelin was still together and I missed them, albeit I would have been too young to remember anyway. But I would have remembered the 07 O2 show and I missed that one, so we'll go with that.

I also have a friend who's gone to hundreds of shows and he told me the Iron Maiden show in Los Angeles in 2013 was the best show he'd ever been to. And I missed that one.

One of the best shows I did go to, strangely, was Weird Al around 1993. Very entertaining and he dresses up in all the costumes from his videos for every song. Even the "Eat It" fat suit.

That missed Keith Richards concert at the Palladium will always haunt me!

You'll get to see him again--I don't believe he'll ever die. The drugs have clearly preserved him.

I missed the Stone's play Hampton Coliseum in 1983. Everyone skipped class to go buy tickets. I was broke :( I did manage to tape it as it was simalcast over our local FM Rock station. My father had a real nice Harmon Kardon system and I managed to record an awesome show.

I have seen lots of great shows. Robert Plant several times in the late 80's. Smithereens, Psychedelic Furs (2x), Midnight Oil, Bobby Blue Bland, Chris Issac (2x), Yellowman, Third World (2x), Rita Marley, Ziggy Marley, The Romantics, Doobie Brothers, Van Halen (2x), Don Henley, Heart, Aerosmith (2x), so many others I cannot remember. ?

When I saw this thread title, I honestly thought it would be about concerts you attended but were too sh*tfaced to remember.

personally, i think this thread would have been much easier for people if it was entitled "greatest live concert you saw other than bruce". because we can assume that bruce is obviously the number 1 act on the planet (and therefore, every bruce concert we've all missed would be top of the list of greatest concerts missed).

This is 100% right on. I was about to post about seeing one of Bruce's birthday concerts (was lucky enough to be at this one https://www.nj.com/springsteen/2012/09/bruce_springsteens_birthday_pa.html) but in the interest of mixing it up...

In the summer of 2005 I was backpacking through Europe with a couple of buddies. We were walking around Rome exploring and after a few beers came across a massive line of porta potties. Curious, we followed the line of johns and stumbled onto a huge crowed gathering. We hoped a fence and followed the music and ended up on the lawn at Live 8 Rome with what felt like hundreds of thousands of people. Wild show.

Saw Page & Plant tour which was close.  Good one at that.

The “You Effing Numpty, What Were You Thinking” award must go to me.

I had tickets for Queen at Knebworth in 1986.

I was doing my final exams at school.

I sold the tickets, and did the exams.

I failed most of those exams.

It was Freddie’s last gig.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great thread. Wish I had been to more. My favorite was Aerosmith at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence in October 2005 I think. Tylers voice was trashed but he opened the show opining on their last visit there in the 80s when they were fkd off their ass.  Played greats you just don't hear like no more no more, kings and queens, and nobodys fault.

Biggest missed there are too many. Don't get to concerts too often.

One show I always wanted to see was Jethro Tull. A buddy of mine got to see his Thick as a Brick tour in '79 and said it was one of the best shows he had seen. Ian Anderson is quite the showman.
