Ritch Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Finally managed to get a box of Davidoff Late Hours the other day. Went for the Toro. I have been wanting to try these for a while as they seem to get a lot of praise. Typical amazing NC construction. Nice taste, will no doubt get better with some rest. Fantastic presentation box. Slight whisky after taste. Would no doubt pair well with a whiskey. Has anyone else tried one? 1
slowsmoke Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Big fan. There was a thread about them here not long ago I think. The robusto is my preferred, but I got a deal on the toro (I'm guessing same as you) and have been pretty darn happy with them as well.
Wookie Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 I have them in all sizes. Good smoke but I'm hoping age will bring them in to better balance. Just a bit of angularity to them right now. 1
PabloJr Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Very good stick. I prefer the toro size myself. If you're looking for another good NC to get into and you can find it, the La Aurora 115th Anniversary stick is a great cigar. One of, if not, the best cigar I had this year. Wish I had a box of those. Sent from my SM-N976V using Tapatalk 1
Chef Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 I've smoked these in all three vitolas. Not a bad cigar at all. I like the robustos the best, then the churchills.

Just a bit of angularity to them right now. I had both the regular Winston Churchill in Churchill and the Late Hour. I felt the Late Hour wasn't as balanced and I enjoyed the flavor profile of the regular line more. In fact, of the few Davidoff I've tried the regular Winston Churchill is the only one I've enjoyed enough to say I would spend the money to try again. They are definitely quality cigars but just not my bag for the coin. 2
5thStarChicago Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Easily the most popular / successful new line from Davidoff in a while. They're extremely popular here in the store. I'm hoping they eventually expand the range and do a diadema and a corona in the Late Hour blend. 1
cbenham73 Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 I tried the Robusto, it was a good stick but have had other NC just as good or better at a far lower price point. 1
mt1 Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 I thought it was pretty awful but to each his/her own...
Vito Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Smoking one right now and the poster. I agree with. Best noncuban or one of the best on the US market right now. Fantastic!! 1
GinFizzLove Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 How much flavor does the barrel aging impart on these?
cigcars Posted October 27, 2019 Posted October 27, 2019 *I've got this cigar on order now based on the statements of you all here. Can't wait to sample it!

I got a taste and aroma of whisky in parts. I suspect pairing with whisky may be the way forward. Shall revisit in a few months when they have had time to rest.
SmokyFontaine Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 I wonder how much of the popularity for Davidoff is legacy versus current cigar production. I've had a couple, found them to be overpriced, and no better than a $4-5 NC. Having said that, I haven't tried a late hour specifically. It all just goes to the subjectivity of taste. For me, I could live off of Fuentes and Padrons. Just had an Arturo Fuente Anejo and it blew my damn mind.
cbenham73 Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 @SmokyFontaineArturo Fuente Anejo is one of my favorites. An excellent cigar. 3
