Popular Post nKostyan Posted September 30, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2019 My Cuban friend sent me a photos of this novelty from the factory. If I understand correctly, these cigars are for the Chinese market, to celebrate the occasion of the Chinese Lunar new 2020 year of the rat. 6 1
99call Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Looks like it's the follow up to the cohiba dog and pig. If it is for the Spanish market. Hats off to them, must be like catnip to the Chinese market. There's lots of bullshit out there, but at least they've come up with a good idea and gone in wholeheartedly. 1
nKostyan Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 The design is more suitable for a gift for international women's day on March 8 1 2
El Presidente Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 I am off to the November launch so they are not too far away. 1

At least these are a new size, rather than an existing size that has been rebranded. That’s progress I guess. I would like to try them. At 155, they are quite a bit shorter than the massive Hoyo Maravillas. 1

In fact it has been used before. It's a Maravillas No.3 actually. Renaming the vitola de salida to "Maravillas 8" (as per blurb) or "8 Maravillas" (as per box branding), as well as putting just 8 in the box instead of (a full) ten, is a simple but clever move towards the Chinese market. Not the first time of capitalizing on the lucky number.... 1 1
Derboesekoenig Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 55 x 155? Yikes. No thanks. Essentially a shorter version of the HdM. Which, I'd rather have the Hoyo than this if I'm going to indulge in something that massive.

Interesting... the Cohiba Dog and Pig cigars I assumed at the time were a private repackage by the Spanish distributor; ie, Tabacalera had some boxes and foot bands made up, and then repackaged regular production Cohiba cigars to sell as 'special' at a mark up. This kind of thing (jars, humidors etc) is pretty common, and I don't consider them to be an official HSA release and don't list them on Cuban Cigar Website. These Romeos, however, appear to be an official HSA release? Or is it a private commission by someone? PCC? Will they be available worldwide? Is this something we can expect every year now? "Zodiac Series"?

Whilst I'm not fond of needless novelty, I think this is fun. Well designed, and will have lots of buyers to get the set.

'Ano del Cerdo' and 'Ano del Perro' are offerings by Tabacalera Spain. Not an official HSA release. This here, the Maravillas is an official HSA 'speciality'. Planned for general global availability incl. duty free. Note added - like Alex sais and perhaps against wider popular belief, the two Maduro 5 and the Coro/Sig4 of the Spanish market have been regular cigars, just repackaged.

Surely this is going to create a head ache. Does this mean there are two separate zodiacs running independently. Or has HSA said. "Well done you canny Spaniards!!.......but we'll take it from here on in"

"Well done you canny Spaniards!!.......but we'll take it from here on in" sure something along those lines... haha. It had been shown in HSA's "new products" announcements from earlier this year, so they were pretty quick in their decision.... But at least - and in so far Elliot was right - this is a special-made cigar just for the occasion, a new vitola for the brand not used before in RyJ.

But do you think they are going to continue the zodiac in 2021? And once the 12 cycle is complete. As a collectable set. Will the dog and cat be seen as a part of the 'set' or 'stand alone' ? All very confusing

All very confusing Brave man, asking me what HSA has in mind for 2021!?... - a time stretch they aren't capable of overlooking for themselves!...
