Oh My.

What a photo!

Can you tell me more about it?

Jerry looks so happy and healthy! Would that have been late 90 or early 91?

Amazing.

Not too much to tell.  At one of my deliveries, Jerry told me I should go to this benefit at the Palace of Fine Arts, that it would be a fun party.  So I went with the girl I was living with at the time.  Some guy that she knew from back in NJ saw us sitting at the table talking to Jerry, so he came over to us and started talking to us.  He had a camera with him (this was before cell phone cameras existed) and he asked if we could get a picture.  A couple of months later, he mailed us a couple of 8x10s.  Not really sure of the date.  My memory is not so good from those days.  ?

Nope, that was much more to tell :)

(I love talking Jerry, especially with someone who has met the man)

It's a great photo from a benefit that you were personally invited by Jerry to. Then he joined you at your table. A fantastic story. Thank you for sharing it. Truly.

Happy and healthy Jerry Garcia photo's make my day!

And a great way to think about how much joy Jerry, through the lyrics of Robert Hunter, has brought myself, and so many others.

Mr Barlow earlier this year, now Mr Hunter. Glad their written art has been scripted for eternity.

That is just who Jerry was.  Always readily available to talk to people.  I remember being back stage at one of the New Years shows.  No band members to be found.  Probably all hanging out in their dressing rooms or something. But there was Jerry, standing all by himself out in the open, waiting for people to come up and talk to him.  It was kind of like he was hiding in plain sight because tons of people just walked by him like he wasn’t even there.

amazing. my only memory was being a young spry 12 year old and seeing the Grateful Dead circus come to town (Hamilton Copps Coliseum). Wasn't allowed to take the bus downtown for five days..."until the hippies left".

So close, yet so far.

Still remember playing summer rollerblade hockey (1995) as a budding 15 year old and hearing the news of Jerry's death. Didn't think too much of it at the time. Was big into classic rock at the time. Floyd was my band. It wasn't until my early 20's I got into the Dead. Over the last 20 years they have been the foundation of my love for music. (and music exploration).

Thanks for the stories, and confirming how great of a person Jerry was off stage.

If you get confused, just listen to the music play.

Bill always seemed down to earth, and really cool. Likely due to his military family background.

An old co-worker of mine,Cameron, was Bill's bartender for a while, when they were both living in Hawaii. Cameron said he was a very entertaining character. It was only after months of him being a regular, that his identity was revealed. Until then, Cameron said he always just saw him as a really friendly regular customer. Not surprised. Someone had to be the level head to Mickey's insanity....
