I could have made that title worse. Trust me.

On the topic of stems - I get that all cigars could and should have some stems, and some companies say that is a fairly important part of the recipe. 95% of the time I can feel a stem at the freshly clipped head of a cigar, I light that thing up, and smoke it. But I've noticed with smaller cigars, things like petite coronas, a couple of little stems can make the draw so bad I can barely keep it lit. A PerfecDraw is my go-to tool for all things draw related, but last night with an Upmann Half Corona I was battling, I decided to pull the stem as best I could. Well, I pulled it out the length of the cigar, with minimal leaf connected to it, and the cigar went from risk of being given a burial at sea to a delightful little smoke with rich flavors and beautiful sweetness.

Do you guys ever fight a tough draw, know there is a stem or two present, and try to...ehem...pull out early? I hear it's 100% effective in other situations, but would like to see if others have tried this with cigars.

...I'm not mature enough to be on the Internet. I know.

Yup I do this. Usually only with the larger stems.

On another note...have you seen the NC cigar produced....entirely of stems +wrapper??

This literally made me cringe

We just did a review of these a few weeks ago...

Everytime I do this the flavor gets worse for me so I no longer do it.  That midrib (the central vein of the leaf) does contain flavor.  Remember only around 50% of a filler leaf central vein is removed before rolling.

Oh, you mean Padron?

I kid, I kid.  I have had no luck pulling stems out with my large fingers and I still haven't gotten a draw poker.  I either prod around with my teeny little toothpick, else just smoke around it, else throw it out as untenable.

Oh, and I pull out at the right time.  You just can't get greedy for that last push.

Usually when I pull a stem out the cigar become very bland and I have to throw it away. Could be due to tunneling
