Ritch Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 I'm planning on going to Cuba in January for two weeks. What hotels do you recommend? Places to eat? Things to do?
Chas.Alpha Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 The Comodoro villas are nice and inexpensive ($60-70). Downside, you’re out in Miramar, 7-10 miles from Habana Vieja. Last month, I brought my mule (wife) and stayed at the Parque Central. $200/night, but within walking distance of everything I wanted to do. (Stumbling distance after 1800 hours...) 2
FatPete Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Stayed at the Parque Central myself, nice hotel and lobby to smoke cigars in and a short walk to old Havana. In fact that's what I would recommend, walking around soaking up the atmosphere with a cigar in hand and stopping along the way for cocktails. I used to hang out at Plaza Vieja. Also liked the garden of the Nacional, with their cigar store. That and the museum of the revolution and the Havana Club factory I thought were good. 1
La_Tigre Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I know of a couple nice casas particulares near the Nacional (~$35) and one near the Prado (~$60 with breakfast) Two weeks in a hotel will be expensive.
DSegal Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 If you have not gone yet and are reading this, a nice spot to enjoy a cigar is the 2nd floor of Hotel Manzana Kempinski. It's a sort of sitting room with very high ceilings, balcony doors that open to a view of the street and Parque Central below, usually empty, serves little coffees or teas or booze, and that's where their cigar shop is located. It has been deserted when I've been there so it is like having a private elegant parlor.

Parque central has the friendliest cigar shop in Havana, that's where I get most of my stock. 1
