Well Monday morning here and back from a week at the beach with the family (is there a greater oxymoron than Family Holiday?).

The weather was hot and balmy and all in all excellent. Plenty of beach fishing in the afternoons and surfing in the morning. My son Ben (11) is quickly getting the hang of his shortboard while my Mals are getting bigger each year to accomodate my frame :-D

Plenty of chances to try cigars and managed an average of three per day. Here are my top 5.

1. Ramon Allones Specially Selected. Full bodied, perfect construction, rich and sweet. 05 stock so no age but an absolute cracker.

2. Juan Lopez Seleccion No 1. Is there a better Corona Gorda??? 03 from memory. Mid bodied (they appear to be getting fuller) but just sweet and smooth and complex. Enjoyed with a Cointreau on ice. Magic.

3.La Gloria Cubana Medaille D'0r No 1 (01) Citrus notes throughout, smooth and subtle but with real charachter. Love this cigar and I am thankfull I keep plenty at home.

4. Cohiba Lancero (05) Lancero's are just an exemplary cigar. Full bodied and loaded with coffee. The honey sweetness will come with a little time. Gorgeous shiny colorado wrapper. One for the long haul.

5. Montecristo No 4 (05) Excellent. Coffee cream in a mid body format.

One of the great comebacks of 05. Monte 4 has regained it's charachter.

Sounds like a great time Rob. I have never heard of taking a week vacation for Christmas, then becoming soo exhausted from the week back ,that you have to take another week. You poor git.;-)

Nice cigar lineup. I enjoyed an ERDM Tainos from '98 this afternoon. Mild and medium bodied, but very frangrant complex smoke. Glad theres 24 more.:-D

Welcome back Prez, glad to hear you had a good break.

My holiday cigar picks are (in no particular order):

Cohiba Siglo VI (1st of the year, superb)

H. Upmann Mag 46 (from habanablue, great smoke, lots of flavours but smoooth)

HDM Epi #2 (as per review on board, just a nice smoke)

Cohiba Siglo III (not as good as Sig. VI, but still very nice)

Monte # 4 (just love these)
