Habana Mike Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 For me, fresh Vegueros Entretiempos can possess a Nicaraguanesque character though not as intense as the NCs. 1
JoeyBones777 Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Take any delicious Cuban cigar and a small dish of tobasco. Dip the head into tobasco between puffs. Boom! Spicy Cuban! You're welcome. ?
Fugu Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Can someone please once define "spicy" for me. From quite a few posts I read spicy = peppery. Is that so? The enquirer (like me) seems to have a slightly deviating conception of it, when he specifies it by asking for "more nuanced spice like cedar/licorice/clove/leather" (all attributes I'd not immediately associate with a Nicaraguan smoke, tbh). Hasn't the use of the word a double meaning? - spicy in terms of flavoursome, accentuated and tasty in a way, I love - peppery I am not particularly looking for in my smokes. And doesn't the term "spicy" - if not just used synonymous for peppery - not always demand some additional descriptor to become meaningful in the context of cigar taste and aroma? Such as e.g. Xmas baking spices, Green curry spices etc.? Spiciness as a "stand-alone" charactreristic, so far, has always been a somehow diffuse concept to me (perhaps also being reflected in the diversity of the above replies). 2

I take "Spicy" (in cigar Terms) to mean the same feeling (and sometimes tastes) that I get from spicy food. Chilis, White/black pepper, capsicum. I'm not sure how anybody could confuse cedar or leather flavors with the word spicy, regardless of the definition used. Weather hot or flavorsome. Cedar and leather aren't even consumed, and I rarely taste these notes, however I do smell them on occasion. For me a spicy cigar offers some burn/tingle on the palette, not necessarily the "flavorsome"/"well seasoned" definition.
bwgan Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Partagas or bust, I am afraidYep.... When I read this I thought of the Cubans I don't like, Party D4 for example did in the spicy mould I can't standSent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
dangolf18 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 No Cubans really come to mind except for 2016 Montecristo Dantes EL. Quite a few spicy non-cubans out there though.

It's pretty clear the man is looking for spice as in heat and pepper. Not cinnamon, nutmeg and baking spices. No need to delve too deep into his meaning.

kalibratecuba Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 I'm surprised this thread has legs. I mean, why look for something when you know where to find it. Stop trying to make your partners, and cigars, something they are not. If I'm wrong, please suggest a CC that is like the Acid Kuba Kuba or an Arturo Fuente Candella. Puros Y Vino Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Not much come to mind for me. The RyJ Cazadores is probably the spiciest regular production cigar I can think of. The RACF is the spiciest CC I've ever smoked, but that's not an easy one to find. HU Mag 50's and Connie A's are loaded with baking spice. Perhaps a PSD4 when young will fit the bill. I find young Esplendidos to be very rich when young too. But they are at their best with 3+ years of age on them.
NYMets01 Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Maybe it's just me but I have had a "spicy" note with Trini Coloniales. Was I just imagining things or have others experienced similar?
