how exactly do you do this espresso pour over...what beans and such?

This is a very fine espresso grind. It’s a slow pour over but worth the wait. cheers

As an unseasoned relatively long time cigar smoker, I'm kind of the opposite. One of the things I like best about sitting down outside to smoke a cigar is quietly sitting down outside to smoke a cigar

Yard work E3B38C5D-446E-4CF8-A98B-6C02BE6561C1.MOV

I am ritualistic...every Friday evening I sit out back with 2 cigars and spend 3 hours with my "pure metal" mix of my favorite 1300 or so songs...ill put down 6 beers and 1 glass of scotch while I do

As someone who always feels like time is a premium (yah, I'm one of those weirdos who can't stand the fact that I have to sleep, and would rather just make it on 3-4hrs so I can do other stuff I consider more worthwhile) I have a hard time sitting down for a smoke, and doing absolutely nothing. I'll usually bring a book or the newspaper, I'll light a cigar, then fart around on my phone for the hour+ it takes to smoke. Reading about that particular cigar, reviews, new cigars to try. That's great for the first 1-2 times trying a new one. After that, it devolves into a silly waste of time on the Internet/social media. It takes away the relaxation if I feel like I'm useless while I do it.

So to you seasoned veterans, do you have any go-to activities while you smoke, beyond just sitting back and staring at the sky? That has a time and place for me as well, but if I'm smoking 2-3 times a week I have a hard time fully enjoying it if I'm mentally and physically idle!

I understand complete. I used to do that but now I build custom fly rods, tie flies, work on something other than my phone and take a lot of breaks to enjoy the stick

This is the hardest thing to explain to new shooters haha.  I’m the same way, I start to think about my shots and I start missing.

Funny story. Today I sponsored a team at a fundraiser shooting sporting clays. Brought some Bolivar PC for the team. We had a great time and we were all very loose. Came in third. First time anyone on the team got a shooting trophy, and yes there were more than three teams.

Much discussion on whether we smoke something different next year to try and shoot better. I think we stick w the Bolivars.

new tool album comes out next week, only music i'm looking forward to.

Heard the first track - not bad, but not "Sober" or "Ænima" either.  When those songs came out, it was literally groundbreaking ("See you down in Arizona Bay!")

Even more than giving the album a listen, I hope to catch the tour following the release.  I've never seen Tool and heard it is a *wild* ride!

How exactly do you execute the pour? In terms of pace and device? Thanks bro!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The device is that ceramic single filter holder that sits atop your favorite mug. I like strong black so 4 tablespoons of grind and pour slowly over until the level is about 3/4 full. Slowly stir to insure the water mixes well. Let this drip through, about 4 minutes. Refill a second pour over  and a slow stir to extract all the dark goodness. Another 4 minutes or until mug is full. This will load a 16 tumbler.

I went flyfishing this weekend with a R&J Churchill. Doing both at the same time is a skill in itself. Do not recommend while stream fishing. Too many obstacles. Trying to tie tippet to the line is painstaking with 1.5 hands. Hands are trembling from the nicotine and the water. Cigar is soggy from holding in the mouth for too long. Wind causes uneven burns. Shesh, next time I light up, I'll be doing the sit on the porch with a beer approach. Fly fishing and cigars... that's one romanticised experiment I will not be attempting again any time soon.

There is something to be said for the tranquility of solitude.

It really depends for me. Smoking with family and friends is always a great time, but other times it's nice to smoke with nature. Tonight's cigar will take some sharp decision making- the cigar I smoke while drafting my fantasy football team for the year ?. Last year, I finally won the league and was smoking the La Escepcion Don Jose while drafting ... if that's any indicator of what it takes to repeat as champ, I will need to come with the heavy artillery tonight !!  ?

I don’t fly fish, but this is exactly how it went the few times I tried smoking and fishing!

That’s funny. There is a lake in the Eastern Sierra that I like to fish. It’s at about 9800ft. A few years ago I brought a Monte 2 with me. I was a bit out of shape and the combination of altitude, nicotine and adrenaline led me to to toss my cookies on the bank. But I caught a ton of fish! So it was totally worth it.

I laugh every time I pass that spot. And I bring PC’s with me now:)

I am either just sitting on my porch with a good adult beverage enjoying nature or I have my Ipad and am watching a TV series I have already seen (king of queens, friends, The office) with my noise canceling headphones.  Both are about just relaxing.   But I will say it is crazy how we can tone out noises that are in the background.   When I take off my noise canceling headphones it almost deafening sometimes.   Especially if the cicadas are really going.

Sounds like it's a real split between "nothing and enjoy every second of it" and consume some sort of media (music, TV, whatever).

I've been trying to do a little writing while I smoke, whether it's journal, short story, or the like, or I've also been feeling the itch to go back and start doing stand-up comedy in my little area, so I've been also looking to jot down a few joke ideas, re-visit a dozen times and see if they still strike me as funny while not on the patio smoking a cigar :P

Hands down though, I most enjoy a cigar when I've got some friends over and just BS for a couple of hours. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I like to burn some logs in a campfire ring while listening to the Phillies game in the background on an old-school AM-FM radio, or, listen to podcasts or YouTube videos of whoever has my attention of late, and for me right now that’s Jordan Peterson. Really smart guy and thought provoking.

When it’s warm, sun porch is peaceful. Possibly blasting some classic rock.

Cold or other reasons, I installed a TV in the garage and slapped in an amazon fire stick. I enjoy the walking dead in the fall while smoking a cigar.
