As someone who always feels like time is a premium (yah, I'm one of those weirdos who can't stand the fact that I have to sleep, and would rather just make it on 3-4hrs so I can do other stuff I consider more worthwhile) I have a hard time sitting down for a smoke, and doing absolutely nothing. I'll usually bring a book or the newspaper, I'll light a cigar, then fart around on my phone for the hour+ it takes to smoke. Reading about that particular cigar, reviews, new cigars to try. That's great for the first 1-2 times trying a new one. After that, it devolves into a silly waste of time on the Internet/social media. It takes away the relaxation if I feel like I'm useless while I do it.

So to you seasoned veterans, do you have any go-to activities while you smoke, beyond just sitting back and staring at the sky? That has a time and place for me as well, but if I'm smoking 2-3 times a week I have a hard time fully enjoying it if I'm mentally and physically idle!

As an unseasoned relatively long time cigar smoker, I'm kind of the opposite. One of the things I like best about sitting down outside to smoke a cigar is quietly sitting down outside to smoke a cigar

Yard work E3B38C5D-446E-4CF8-A98B-6C02BE6561C1.MOV

I am ritualistic...every Friday evening I sit out back with 2 cigars and spend 3 hours with my "pure metal" mix of my favorite 1300 or so songs...ill put down 6 beers and 1 glass of scotch while I do

I've found watching a box set on my phone or tablet passes the time very well and I can still appreciate the flavours and have a drink.

Currently re-watching the Sopranos. ?

I'm with you there. I have a real hard time just sitting and smoking...doing nothing else. Once in a while at best.

If I'm amongst friends then that's a different story all together. The chatter, whiskey, stories...all priceless. But if it's just myself I'll usually bring the laptop outside with me and watch a game, YouTube, or try to find the end of the Internet. I sometimes like to read Cigar Aficionado or whatever book I'm working on while smoking also.

While there may be some who disagree with this approach, it's what works for me and is how I enjoy the very limited time I have to myself.

Sitting down and doing absolutely nothing is, for me, the whole point. The whole rest of life is filled with frenzied, manufactured busyness. Smoking a cigar is an opportunity to pause, sit still, and be quiet.

If I'm alone, I'll start out reading (for work or pleasure) with a game on my ipad in the background.

That lasts for a while and then it usually ends up just sitting there and enjoying the outdoors.

I’m with the meditative crowd. Zen aroma-therapy with a stiff drink.

I like the time to be peaceful and contemplative. I listen to faith preaching or music (all kinds, faith, cool jazz, beach reggae, Spanish guitar, etc.) on my noise canceling earphones.

At night, I also stare at the sky and the stars while doing the above.

And of course, there's the browsing on FOH, and reading reviews time too!

Read anything about cigars, including drink pairing, and the ideal time of year/weather for the cigar I'm smoking.  Frequently I work on updating my cigar inventory, especially the "want" list.

I prefer the sitting and doing nothing.  I don't do it enough to get bored.

I don't enjoy this but it can be good to pair with work.  Yard work is fun but tough to balance and I feel like I waste a cigar.

when I'm teaching I'll have a lot of grading to do.  Depending on how well I manage my life this is often late 6hr stints on random weekend evenings.  It get mindless and monotonous and I'll set up in the garage with a fan at my table.  Suddenly it becomes a much more pleasant experience.  Worst way to smoke a cigar, beat way to grade papers.

My ideal activity would be relaxing with friends who smoke. Chatting casually with people who enjoy the hobby with a bit of music in the background.

Aside from this any leisure activities that lend themselves to smoking like fishing. Smoking at the pier early in the morning before the afternoon winds pick up is a great way to get some fresh air and sunshine.

If not with friends then Write and plan. Pen, paper, cigar & a fine rum is as good as a $2000 motivational spruiker weekend.

If I'm smoking anything that's going to take me an hour or more I'll usually listen to a podcast (Rogan or Bill Burr), otherwise I'll take the time for some peace and quiet.

Best case scenario= relaxing

Typical scenario= listening to a conference call. Helps me avoid the boredom.

Well let’s see. New to CC world but I do spend 2-3 days a month going to my cigar club that calls itself a shotgun club and shoot skeet and five stand. Periodically sporting clays. I do find that a cigar relaxes me quite a bit and improves my scores. Hope the finer CC I have now will improve my scores further.

The rest of the time I sit w a buddy and shoot the crap. Since it’s summer here, sometimes I’ll stand in my pool.

Periodically there are the conference calls   Rarely yard work.

Play chuck it with my Goldie.  Watch videos or read.  Sometimes I simply just sit and watch my dogs.  My favorite time to smoke is in the morning these days.

I mostly listen to podcasts, stare at the stars and maybe take notes on the cigar for later review. I try to be somewhat diligent about the note taking, but too much and it feels like homework.
