Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted August 20, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 20, 2019 Funny story to go with this cigar. I just left the coffee shop, got into my car, stuck my unlit cigar in my mouth and looked down at my phone to check the notifications. I was startled by a tapping on my window. I looked up to be startled again to see Alec Baldwin was the one tapping. For a second, I didn't know whether to open the window or not. I thought maybe I did something to piss him off. So I open the window, and said "Hey Alec, what's up?" He points his finger at my cigar and says "It's been a long time since I've had one of those in the morning. He then walks away saying. "A long time. A long time." ??? The strangeness of my day continues. In town, the only place that sells cigars is a very upscale Jewelry store called London Jewelers. They have a relatively small walk in humidor that always is stocked with a large selection of Opus X, Padron Anniversario, Davidoff, and a whole bunch of other expensive cigars that I rarely smoke anymore. Back in the day, I used to smoke them about 25% of the time and Cubans the other 75%, but I guess that 25% was enough for them to offer me a locker. well, that, and I have bought my wife jewelry there on occasion. So I said sure, put my name up there with all of the famous people’s names on the other lockers. They don't charge me anything for the locker, so why not. Now to the important part of the story. I haven’t gone to my locker all summer, but I decided to go today, in case I didn't bring enough with me to last me the whole 2 weeks I am here. They open my locker for me, and there is an extra box of cigars, that I know are not mine. The box is about half full. So I explained to the manager that these belong to someone else, and gave the box to him. ....well, except this one. Here is the box. 23 6

Bri Fi Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Maybe the hoyos are from him. Perfect ending, but I’d be concerned as much as happy.
Chucko8 Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 That's a great story to start my morning. Thanks
Thirds Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Alec is fine and all but how was the Cohiba? That’s the Robusto Year of the Pig, right? Great story. ?? 1

Great story. ?? They are very good. To my knowledge, they make no claim to the age of the cigar, but they look, feel and taste more similar to CoRo’s of the past rather than current production CoRos. In my experience, CoRo’s have changed in the last 3 or 4 years. They used to look more consistent, but not necessarily taste more consistent. Now, their look is much less consistent, but they all seem to taste very good, at least to me. These Year of the Pigs, have the look of the older CoRo. Consistent with the color and the roll, which seems to have gotten slightly looser in recent years. These are on the firm side. The older CoRos were a little more firm, while now they are a little spongier, with wrappers all over the place as far as color. 2 1

Well, he does have a locker there, but no, I dont think so. LOL They dont give us keys. There is only 1 key that opens all the lockers, and you need to ask the manager to get into your own locker. So someone must have taken these out, and the manager put them back in the wrong locker. This doesn’t exactly instill confidence in me, but I dont put anything in there I cant afford to lose. Just a couple of boxes of relatively inexpensive regular production cigars.
Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted August 21, 2019 Author Popular Post Posted August 21, 2019 Just ran into him again at the Gym. Told him I have a cigar for him in my car. After my workout he walked out to my car with me and I gave him one of those pre-released Novedosos. Apologies in advance to the member who I just yesterday told that I can’t give him one because I only have a few. 12 3 5

ImTripN2 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 I'm not the least bit impressed that you know Alec Baldwin. I will admit to being a bit jealous about the '00 CoRo, but that pic of your tanned feet with flip flop marks impressed me immensely. Well done Sir! 2 1

LOL BTW, I would never characterize it as “I know Alec Baldwin”. He’s just a guy that I see around town a lot. It’s a small town. Actually, for the last 20 years, I always thought he was bit of a douchbag. For some reason that I dont know, he has been extra friendly with me this summer.?♂️?♂️?♂️ 1

Classy move giving him a low stock, hard to find stick. I’ve got my own feelers out for a box if they’ll ever hit the LCDH. Great story, indeed, Dr. 1 3
MigsG Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Neat outcome to the story! They're mostly just regular folks. I bet he was thrilled to be given that Novedosos, and even more as he smoked it (if he already has). 1
