Hadroxity
Smoking a Ramon Allones Small Club Corona ROTT box code LMB DIC 18. The entire smoking time has consisted of an extremely strong metallic taste, like putting change or aluminum foil in your mouth. Is this just an ammonia taste or what? Hasn’t gone away at all and I’ve never had this experience from something ROTT. It’s from a PSP grade box. Could this just be a valuable lesson in following the 30day resting rule?
KavalanWhisky
The only other time I had a metallic taste was from a 2012 Bolivar Gigantes, it had a zinc taste to it, very unsettling, luckily after the first third it disappeared but not the best taste. BoliDan
Metallic occurs when they are just a bit too dry for me.
Lotusguy
Consistently had that with the Punch Medalla D'Oro RE UK from 2011. Not sure if that was because of the packaging or what, but I really didn't like it.

If you haven't let them rest.........your setting yourself up for failure.
IanMcLean68
I have tasted a metallic taste in young VR Famosos before. Goes away with some age. If I recall that is the only cigar I have ever witnessed this in before.
99call
Whenever I get a metallic taste with cigars, it reminds me of burning lead solder and grease flux, at school, learning how to put together electrical circuits. A really horrid smell/flavour
BrightonCorgi
Could it be a reaction of some sorts?
shlomo
Could be due to whatever you ate/drank prior.
Hadroxity
Thanks for the responses everyone, thankfully my collection is getting to a point where I can exercise the patience to wait now. Just caught me off guard with how overwhelming this one was versus my other attempts at a ROTT sampling.
Hollywood Ninja
I've given up smoking most CC ROTT. It generally ends up being a waste of a precious stick and doesn't really give me any clear idea of what I like/don't like. NC on the other hand it a slightly different story. I've got a 90 day rule that I try to adhere to, but often fall a bit short of that.
GinFizzLove
I get an iron/mineral taste on some sticks, especially further along the smoke. I wonder if this is the same as the metallic taste? Most of the Cubans I have been smoking are on the younger side.

This particular one radiated throughout my entire mouth, was probably the most unpleasant cigar smoking experience I’ve ever had.
Subcomandante
This just happened to me with a NC. Cigar was fine. Nothing spectacular or complex. Then at the end it got super metallic. The fillings in my teeth seemed to go crazy and give off some of it. It was really weird. It was a 4 year old stick. I saw somewhere they mentioned allergy meds could cause it. I don’t know.
