Quai D’Orsay No. 50 2016ish (PQDRW)

Unsure of the box code and year, this stick was from a trade.

 

Incident to the trade, I received 2 of these. The first I smoked about 30 days after receipt. This one I smoked 90 days or so after receipt, it made all the difference in the world. The first bland, this one technicolor. I understand why they’ve become so sought after.

 

Generally speaking, this cigar is how I hoped the fonseca would taste. I know there are fonseca fans here, it just wasn’t deep enough for me.

 

Most folks break these into thirds. No need here, and that isn’t a bad thing. Straight out of the gate this cigar was honey and graham cracker for me. Maybe baking spice? I’m not sure. I got Almost like a cola flavor.

 

The cigar seemed mildish in strength, yet carried a strong flavor. This is as opposed to a fonseca where I perceive light strength and also far more subtle flavor. The QDO was full flavor all the way through.

 

Rest them a little. At least 90 days regardless of box date. I have no idea what box this cigar came from, the only thing I know is it was lightly rested after initial shipment. Then the second was properly acclimated.

 

Terrific cigar, tasted like dessert. Pretty solid construction and burn with a touch or two, but nothing significant.

Agreed. However I put a “notify me” flag on the QDO coronas on the FOH International Store. I typically like 40-42 RG smokes. I got an email they are in stock. So if you’re a fan, the corona may still be available.

Same here, I’m all about the low 40’s ring gauge. If the box I Coronas I just ordered are full bodied honey and graham cracker, theyll be going into my regular rotation!

I too prefer QD over Fonseca. I wanted to love Fonseca, but I can't force it. I've also never had a pre-2017 QD either though. I own them, but haven't tried them yet.
