Punch Punch UBM JUN 17 (PQDRW)

Last review was in Aug 2018. This will kind of be like a redux to sed how these are coming along.

 

V-cut and off we go. Starts off similar to my previous review with notes of bread and a sweet cream. The cream is heavier than the last time and Im getting a lot more twang this time around. Theres a slight fruit note which I cant put my finger on, and is different from the floral note I got last time. This cigar is sweet but not overbearingly so. Theres a hint of clove which makes me feel like this is like a mix of and HdM Epi 1, with the cream and clove, and a Mag 46, with the bread.

 

Progression through the 2nd third brings in some leather with the cream at the front. Fruit, or whatever it was has disappeared as has the clove. But this cigar has smoothed out since Aug. It's not a silky smooth but the texture of the smoke grabs me.

 

Last third brings a rich espresso, leather in the back. Hint of clove returns for a cameo. The sweetness of the cigar has subsided but isnt completely gone. Cream is not as rich but the cigar stays smooth.

 

Progression wise, this box has definitely gotten better, but not significantly. I'll give this one a 90. The cigar was much smoother and the flavors a bit more defined. Not quite prime time but even right now, I think these are very smokeable.

Hi jmg. Got back from Amsterdam last week with a 10 box dated Jan '14, (in tubes).  Going to be 'amping some up some what so will let you know some time this year!

But what I'd really like to know is why my box of H Upmann Half Coronas is UBM JUN 17 just like your Punches are?

I have a GOS OCT 17 box, cigar has a very similar wrapper and seems very close to your experience. 

 

I have to agree, there's a lot of potential, and as of right now its just a great cigar with the right amount of complexity to keep your attention. The creamy aspect really does jump out at you. I have high hopes for what this cigar will be like with another year to it.
