ohbob976 Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Does that mean price will go down if supply is up? Or just more supply at the same price super high price we are seeing currently

Wookie Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Doubling production was tried in 1999-2001, wasn't it? Quality severely suffered. Those pre 1998 RyJ Churchills were amazing.

Those pre 1998 RyJ Churchills were amazing. I think they hit 160 million cigars in 1999. They are half that now. They couldn't double production if they wanted to as they don't have the leaf to do so. it would take them a year to gear up the other assets to give that number a crack again. By doubling production i was meaning their premiums/super premiums. eg, 600,000 Behike/Siglo VI/would be swallowed by the market immediately.

They would be bought up by cigar flippers and sold for a hefty premium on the secondary market.
Wookie Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Understood! I was referring to the construction issues alone that suffered by bringing on inexperienced rollers to deal with the increase.... not to mention the leaf sourcing issues. Wasn't it this that caused them to go random on the factory box codes?

The box codes change made sense as people were cherry picking. it was partly successful. to reach those numbers again (assuming they had leaf) it would take a normal country a year to gear up. it would take cuba two. They would try to do it in 4 months. 1
Derboesekoenig Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 That's fantastic, but I still believe that I'll never be in the right place at the right time in Cuba to snag any of those. Flippers be damned. So lancero, behike, and siglo vi. What were the cigars on the last picture?
shippers Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Nope neither will I. Might pick up a couple of Siglo VI Tubos in the future to put away but the prices outside Cuba do put me off a little!

I thought all the Majestuosos were made between 2016 and 2018, but I guess it's possible these will still be stamped as 2018. Same as the La Reina, most likely.

smokum Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Just seeing pics of these proud people making the best cigars in the world is pretty cool. No matter how many they make. Just remarkable pics. 1

Then why do so many people even care so much about them lol They aren't even honest about WHAT factory they where rolled in, let alone WHEN. Are you familiar with the Phonecian 35th release? The box literature stated every single cigar was rolled at El Laquito, then the cigars were released with THREE different factory codes. I don't remember exactly who, but somebody was able to ply what they called an "explanation" from Phonecian trading company as it was told to them. Supposedly they rolled all the cigars at EL, then drove them over to the La Corona and Upmann Factory's to be boxed, banded and stamped. As I've said before, if you believe that, I have some beautiful ocean front property in Colorado that I'll sell you for CHEAP. 1
