Popular Post El Presidente Posted March 27, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 27, 2019 I use to dream about women but as that is a no longer a DAA, I have over the past couple of years moved onto the more mundane dream world of commerce. For a period of time I was smithy's apprentice in a robotics lab. it was all very Ironman. Now given that I don't know a wrench from a spanner (aren't they the same thing?) it was horrendous. Smithy was very mean to me. Then there is my other recurring dream where ken and I had a wine business together. It all started so promisingly and received much media acclaim but alas I was losing a small fortune and ken was no help. It as a nightmare. Hang on.... that really happened Onto last night where I was at the HSA headquarters in Madrid (no I don't know why it wasn't Havana) and I was in a meeting with President Juan Carlo Ningunaidea about a new cigar brand called "Rayo de Luz" (ray of light) that comprised 5 sizes ...all skinnies and under 44 gauge. It was to be a unique skinnies brand from carlota to double lancero. Juan Carlos wasn't convinced I pointed out that Cuaba is an entirely figurado brand selling sweet **** all. FOH had cloud funded $10 million to kick off the brand (nice one fella's...that was from Colts thread ). Juan Carlos responded that Cuaba was managed by his Mother and not for further discussion. Juan Carlos approved the idea on the proviso that ken become vice president of the new brand. I woke up screaming. .......just a bad dream or a message from God. Would a skinnies brand fly? 1 8
benfica_77 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I like the name....you should name your FOH house blend you've been working on Rayo De Luz. Any update on those? 1
OZCUBAN Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Good idea though we need a bit of “Rayo de luz” over here ??
Lant63 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I think it would depend on the availability. For instance, it's fairly difficult to get Monte especiales or CoLa at the moment. If the brand only had a montecarlos, slim pantela (MDO no 4) and a petite corona that was readily available it would likely suffer. BUT, if the Double lancero was available all over it would thrive.

Any update on those? We have finalised the blend for the Nudies no 1 (lancero) and the 3 (carlota). keep in mind this is a brand designed for the burgeoning global Plain Packaging market where a country seems to fall every month. I wasn't happy with the other two blends (No 2 and 4). One small headache is that this country ceases Tobacco Bond as at 1st of July. Nudies will be distributed internationally and I have two partners whom I have spoken to. We will finalise that over the coming month. Nothing worthwhile is easy. 3
Lotusguy Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 A skinnies-only brand would have a big market on FOH. It would fail miserably in the general market, however. We simply don’t represent the general market here. 2
Justin Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I think the market comprised of primarily CC smokers would flock to a skinnies line. You’re mass market smoker that grabs a stick from the bar before heading to the patio rarely ever opts for something skinny. Likely over compensating for something... 1

Definitely can't wait for these especially the lancero!! Can't wait to see how these blends taste but knowing @Elpresidentehe wouldn't skimp on anything that he is going to put out after all look at the quality of cigars on 24:24!

I think it would, but I don't think the whole line would absolutely need to be true thins. I love the Carlota, the Parejo. I think you could go up to a 44 or 46 and still maintain the philosophy. I think I like Rayo de Luz even more than Corazon de Cuba P.S. don't be a hater, be a participator!
jay8354 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I think that there is a vast interest in skinnies at the moment. This is due to the lack of supply from HSA. If the product quality is good, people will flock to them. I dont think you have issues with buyers, it is more ensuring the quality is consistent and maintained, while quantity can be ramped up as demanded. Various sizes and gauges can be tested using the "Macca's model" to gauge customers feedback.

Put a cazzie in a tubo, put those tubos in a box and bam -- regular sized box at a bargain-seeming price. They sell in Duty Free and people will start smoking and enjoying beautiful skinnies despite themselves.
