It can be done ... in 2006 to 2008 (takes a lot longer than you would think) ... a private board I belong(ed) to did just this.

minimum of 400 boxes (in 2006) repackaged to 500 boxes of 20 (some freebies/giveaways so really only 490 boxes) ... then getting the boxes made (a way bigger hassle than you might think) ...  I don’t think HSA would let us use original dress boxes . Then getting bands made and applied .

done in conjunction with an LCDH (in Germany) with the blessing of HSA .

still have 5 or 6 boxes

Damn.  So, was this an order for a custom blend and vitola or a currently rolled cigar, repackaged?  Given the requirements of the RE program, I'm sure there's enough members on this board who would be willing to fork out some cash to get a sanctioned Habanos made cigar.  LESF take 2 anyone? ;)

Sounds like a 150K investment needs to be secured before the green light.

For the right vitola I think I could commit to 50 or 100 cigars. Gotta be something nice though, maybe Partagas SdC, or Lonsdale, Punch SS1, Tainos... etc.

I would commit whatever I could muster whenever the go-ahead was given.  @dvickery - you give us all hope showing that it can be done (and for a Corona, which is my favorite size, even if it's not for many other people!).  I'm game to try and I'd put down whatever I could.  At least enough for a few boxes!
