Popular Post irratebass Posted March 23, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 23, 2019 I picked up this box off of Rob, when they announced they were being discontinued. I really wished I'd of sought out more of these, but this was my 1st year down the rabbit hole so to speak. I awarded myself after 5 years of smoking cigars to eventually seek out Cubans, and these have been one of my favorites, so I obviously had to review this one right? On the body I pick up faint cedar and oak notes, on the foot I get cinnamon and nutmeg. On the cold draw I pick up salt, more cedar and some cream. 1/3 Right away I'm met with that sweet cedar, peanut and cream flavor people seem to associate with Hoyo's. I'm getting lots of smoke on this stick. Burn is starting to become uneven, I'm not gonna touch it, just gonna let it go and see if it straightens up on it's on. Well it didn't correct itself, so I touched it up. Ok this cigar is not wanting to stay list.......SAD!!! 2/3 Now that's I've re lit it it's smoking much better now. This is the Hoyo that I fell in love with. Now I'm getting some honey notes on top of the peanut and cream flavors. 3/3 still smoking well, getting kind of an acidic element, not ammonia, on the retro I pick up bread notes, especially on the finish on my palate. Draw Was a bit snug, but no complaints though Burn Was a bit uneven (wonky) and needed several touch ups Construction Wasn't that great, the ash was very flaky, it went out several times on me. Not sure what happened, Overall I still love this cigar, however this was the worst one out the box (of course, the one I review). There was still plenty of your typical Hoyo flavors of cream, peanut, cedar and even some bread, but the construction issues made me have to rate it low. Oh well I still have plenty left in my box, would love to stock up on these. Score 80/100 Smoking time was 120 mins 9
aphexafx Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 A very honest score. They probably just need more time. Good luck in the drawing! 1

FatPete Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 Nice review. Interesting your cigar was very different from mine same factory and only 1 month after mine was boxed. Did the other's from your box taste similar to this one?
Chucko8 Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 Great write up thanks. Hopefully a little extra downtime will enhance it even further for you mate
