I have seen this REVISADO Stamp on Habanos Boxes on the Internet, but to be Honest I have never seen them on any Boxes at either LCDH or from Legit Vendors like FOH.  So my question, is this a red flag, since I remember back in the 90's with the Habanos Cigar Craze, there were so many fake stamps all over the place.

Let me know your thoughts

All Añejados boxes should have this stamp; it just means they have been individually checked.  From www.habanos.com:

These Habanos are presented in labelled boxes, with double ring, external stick with the legend “Añejados” and with a vitolina describing the concept. On the bottom of the box the date when the Habanos were made can be verified. “Revisado” (Checked)is also stamped on the bottom of the box, since 100% of the boxes have been opened and all the cigars have been checked one by one.

It may appear in other instanced as well.  But it's a legit stamping.

Just boxes that, if I remember correctly, are sent back to Cuba by distributors for whatever reason. They go through a checking procedure and if they pass they get stamped, usually with a date too, and sent back into circulation.

Most came from the 'tent peg' years but if a production run has had an issue identified it can go through the process. Sometimes it could just be stock has sat unsold/passed over a lot so it's been sent back.

I could be wrong but I think some of the anajedos boxes initially came with the stamps? Which threw everyone out because they're supposed to be new cigars, but not new; rolled then hidden away for years, but maybe not, or maybe so :rotfl:

Yes, originally the Revisado stamp was used to indicate the boxes were in Cuba past their box date and re-inspected. In the past, I have seen a new box code along with the revisado, so two box codes. This was all prior to the Anejados program.

The Anejados program does use the revisado stamp in a way which isn't consistent with the previous use of the stamp as presumably the Anejados cigars were never meant to leave Cuba at that time...who knows. I think the use of the stamp is just a gimmick for the Anejados.

But I wouldn't be concerned with any Revisado stamp on any regular production box.

I have had great luck with Revisado boxes, but haven't seen one in a long time.  Take it as a plus.  The way I see it; it was inspected a 2nd time by a professional in Cuba!

I agree with NSX's comments on the Anejado releases. The stamps appear to be a gimmick.

Now back to regular production. Problematic cigars are often re-assessed (a % of). A distributor can raise an issue with a cigar (plenty of 99-01 Revisado). Checks are normally done at the Havana warehouse but from time to time the Cuban rep would check the cigars at the distributor warehouse.

I meet boxes with revisado stamp pretty often as well as our distributor's vintage revisado seal. Boxes also have warranty seals with first later started from wrong for the year when it was produced. Like J for box from 2005 (should be G or H) which means that box was opened and checked in period 2009-2011 (J and I letters). Sometimes those have 2 warranty seals (one original and another, glued on that one when box was checked)
