Drguano
The cigar world has lost a true gentleman and someone who has forgotten more about cigars than most of us will ever know. A truly nice man... https://www.cigarjournal.com/simon-chase-passes-away-aged-74/ 2 1

CaptainQuintero
Very sad news, when I saw the topic title I hoped it was something else. The cigar industry and world as a whole is poorer for it. It seems very out of the blue
TheMonk
Very sad news. I recently saw a video from a H&F visit regarding the upcoming Reina, and to me he already seemed to be quite fragile, so I was afraid of this.

cigcars
Wow, I'm so sorry to learn of this...I always looked forward to his words and coverage of treasured Havana smokes of yesteryear and aged specialties. He will be sorely missed, and thank you for notifying us of this news. Real sorrow to our hearts as Havanaphiles always hanging onto the latest words from Mr. Chase in his coverage of our beloved tobacco treasures...Rest well, Simon. You are missed and you are loved. Philski
V. sad to hear. He once served me in the Dunhill cigar room on Jermyn Street, where he was helping out/moonlighting, just a perfect gentleman
JohnS
An acquaintance in the Cigar Industry had told me of Simon's illness in December last year. Sad news to hear of his passing. What a gentleman and what a loss to our Habanos worldwide community.
99call
So sad. Regardless of his obvious knowledge and wisdom in this passion of ours, the self deprecating way he carried that knowledge like it was some sort of happy accident speaks to what a lovely humble man he must of been. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, and know I'm much the poorer for it. Rest in Peace

Popular Post ChanceSchmerr
How very sad. I had the privilege to meet him a few times during my sojourn in London, and to speak with Simon at length at an Ajay's Summer Party. During our conversation, I was pleased to offer him an RA Super Ramon RE Canada as he had not tried one before, and he responded with wonderful story on the history of the Rodolfo vitola and the man behind it. Truly, a massive loss to our community and to Friends of Habanos everywhere. RIP Simon, you are very much missed.
