I would put my money in some sort of manufacturing. The Cuban people are going to need to work before they can buy much of anything.

So true. It would take a while for Cuba to become a consumer economy again. Personally, I’d invest in sugar.

First of all, trade:
- food supply
- household goods
- consumer electronics
- cars
Also:
- tourism
- construction and building materials
- banking 
Forget manufacturing for a couple of decades. Cubans are lazy, besides the first years of trade will give super profits and fast money, and Cubans love to trade exactly more than work. 
I saw the same thing in Russia in the 1990s during the transition to capitalism

I agree with much that you say, except for the part about Cubans being lazy. I have witnessed what seems to be a lack of work ethic with “government workers” (isn’t this true wherever you go?), but in my travels outside of the cities, I have seen a work ethic that is very, very strong.

Slightly off topic but does anyone else day dream about opening a LCDH franchise? I wonder what kind of franchise fees are involved. 

No problem here. You apply through your regional distributor and receive LCDH store opening conditions.

Rob...Buy as much land as possible in the Pinar region that is farmable for cigars. Even if it is not farmable for cigars buy it anyway. It is fractions of what land costs in Havana. Then you could host your weekly tours through Havana, and rolling class/tour in Pinar. Staying in your hotel, riding on your bus, and meals in your restaurants. This way you could work on blends like we talked about. Ken would have to move there, the videos just wouldn't be the same. Class dismissed. John

Have 500K verifiable funds and a lease on class A commercial retail location would be a good start.
