Tollickd Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 My local has two of the discounted Vegas Robaina in stock the bottom ones look like old old seals not sure when they stopped them! Anyone tried these? Also some Salomones Cuaba not sure if old boxes will check next time I am in Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
BrightonCorgi Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 I had a box of Familiar about 8 years ago. Brought it a family bbq and they were big hit! Full flavored cigar, if I were hot for fulled bodied cigar that size, the Familiar would be a the top of the list.
Hammer Smokin' Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 ohhhh the clasicos! my single favourite VR cigar. i would be purchasing both of those boxes immediately, if I could afford them.

Looking at the Warranty seal I think these must be before 1999. Wow just realized that would make them almost 20 hrs old Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Notsocleaver Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 Open them up and take a look. The Classicos I had from that 99-00 range weren't the best. If they have sat out there for this long, there might be a reason besides simple unpopularity...

Lotusguy Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 300 euro is quite expensive for these. I would also bet they are are from 1999 and that was a questionable year for Lonsdales 1
Phillys Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 I have a few Clasicos from 01, one was plugged beyond redemption, the other I smoked recently had a good draw and was quite good.

Even should he have to discard half of them (which I would not think), would make 24 bucks a stick, ... you know, some shell that out without a wink for questionable regionals.... Just sayin' 1

Just sayin'I can get ‘99s for $280 shipped and I’m not getting any... clearly, for me the value isn’t there.
Bram Smoker Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 Sounds like the 99-00 range is a gamble on these? Is it 50/50 or worse?

Got a decent stock, but if I were to pay 300 without any alternative....and had the chance to inspect, like our OP here. Would perhaps still prefer the B&Ms option over buying for $280 unseen.

Things like the Punch Super Seleccion Number 1 it is closer to 80% on 99. Robusto's far less affected ( 5-10 as a guess) but nothing avoided the disaster entirely. 1

I would say you are a 50/50 for familiar and classicos. In all likelihood you will be throwing 30-50% out. Look at your risk tolerance and make a decision. I back slow horses so taking a punt doesn't worry me 1

Ritch Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Tell me about it. Just had to use it on a Party E2. It kinda worked

In Andorra in 2004, the most famous shop had a cabinet close to the cashier, and they gave 1 or 2 to customers who spend big money, just like free lighters or cutters or long matches… totally unsmokable drums sticks from 99/2000… What a pity when you know how great this cigar could be…
BarryVT Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 I would probably spend my coin on something else, nothing worse than a box of unsmokables, I have a box of 01 familiars in my humidor, they are like trying to suck a marble through a straw! Not even perfectdraw is of any assistance. I still pull one out every few months hoping "this is the one!" Have not found a good one yet.
Hammer Smokin' Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 how long ago? they've been discontinued for what, almost five years?
