VDRC: Ramon Allones Gigantes

This was not the cigar I intended to review for this competition. I was going to review a padron, as it was a padron that opened my eyes to the enjoyment a cigar can bring. I had to work late on Valentine's Day, so I was able to come in to work later in the afternoon. I woke up and found one of the last remaining RAG from a 6 pack I bought well over a year ago. The first ones were smoked young, I think I enjoyed one or 2 and the others were plugged super tight. None of them blew me away, until this one.

 

I have heard the fruit flavor get used a lot, but I had never experienced it. If I had, I couldn't pin down what it was. Some members call some sticks "juicy fruit" bombs. I'm not sure I would have came to that conclusion on my own, but it was apparent right away this stick had that profile.

 

The draw was perfect, the flavors right off the bat were intensely sweet. Like leaving a pack of juicy fruit gum in the car on a hot day and coming in to smell your entire car taken over with that smell.

 

At around the half way point, it went from smelling/licking a piece of juicy fruit gum, to putting the whole pack into my mouth at once. Just blast after blast of intense, fruit flavors.

 

The last half just built on that until my fingers could hold on no longer. I have a couple left, I will cherish them.

 

Rob says more will come up this week, and I had several unexpected expenses with my car come up this weekend. Hopefully there are 6 pack options again as a box is out of the picture at this point.

 

My wife didn't even realize Thursday was Valentine's Day. When I told her I had to work late, she was bummed that I would be missing taco night! Haha, she loves tacos...

 

I don't have the code from that batch of cigars, but it was most likely late 16 or early 17, so they are relatively young and smoking fantastic right now. I hope I can get a few more this week...

It shattered all my knowledge of what a cigar is even capable of. It was like inception. Dream within a dream lol

Interesting. I've only really ever associated that Wriggleys Juicy Fruit gum taste with high quality Punch before.
