Popular Post Fuzz Posted February 17, 2019 Popular Post Posted February 17, 2019 October, 2015. I had just flown into Bangkok from Kuala Lumpur, ostensibly to see suppliers and shipping company reps, but that was a weak excuse. I was really here to see Suchin*, who I had met on a previous business trip to Thailand. Suchin worked as a customer rep for one of the shipping companies I use. She heard that I was coming to Bangkok from her colleague, and messaged me to come see her too. I didn't think I had time, as I was only in Bangkok for one day, but I promised to meet her after an early dinner meeting. Suchin's apartment was not too far from my hotel, and she had offered to prepare a late evening supper, which was the last thing on my mind. I rocked up to her place and she greeted me at the door with a warm hug. We settled on her balcony for drinks, sitting almost on top of each other, as it was so small. I asked if she wanted something more than just drinks, and she happily agreed. I pulled it out and noticed a swift look of disappointment on her face. "I was expecting something bigger", she quietly muttered. "I'm sorry, honey, but it was a long day. And it is all I have left." I replied. "But don't worry, though it may be smaller than you're used to, I know that you will enjoy it". Suchin looked up at me, doubt in her eyes. I had to admit, it did seem small, even in her petite hand. She rolled it around with her lithe fingers, getting a feel for it. She bent her head down, inhaled the aroma and took a small taste. Her eyes opened and she smiled, "Yes! I see what you mean. Sometimes smaller is better!" As the night slowly passed, several times more we enjoyed the pleasures of the H.Upmann Half Corona.... and other things too... ********************* Yes, the H.Upmann Half Corona. A fantastic little smoke for when you don't have a lot of time, but still want something more than a quick fix. I paired this with some Zacapa Negra rum after a late night hanging out with @Luca. The cold draw had leather, a touch of spice and a little sweetness. Upon lighting I picked up that leather, sweet cocoa, and some cedar wood. In the first half, the leather went away and was replaced with a fresh baked breadiness. Hints of spice and caramel danced around the edges. The smoke volume was ridiculous for such a small cigar. The HUHC sat comfortably at medium bodied. Coming into the back half, peppery notes appeared, replacing the spice. I could barely taste a bit of sweet honey on the lips. Definitely a great cigar that everyone should have in their humidors. * Name changed to protect the innocent... and me if she ever finds out 4 5
