VDRC - HdM Des Dieux MER ABR 13 - 50 Shades of Wrapper

November 4th, 2016. I was coming to the end of my 3 week vacation across the United States. It was a turbulent time for the country. The future leader of this magnificent nation was to be soon decided in the coming days. Hard decisions were to be made by so few, but my mind was turned to more sweeter thoughts.

I had just flown into Tampa from Dallas earlier in the morning, here to meet up with an old friend, Lily*. It had been a few years since we last met, and we were eager to catch up. We had arranged to meet for dinner and drinks in downtown St Petersburg. Time had certainly not caught up with her, looking young a vibrant as ever, as I gazed at her across the table. It was to be an evening of many pleasures.

It was after a long night of wine and dancing, when we finally found ourselves back at Lily's house. Lily was eager to get things started, as it was to be our first time doing this together. "Are you ready?", I asked, as I gazed into her eyes. Moistening her lips in anticipation, she nodded her head silently. I took it out and placed it in her waiting hands. Lily ran her fingers up and down the length, feeling the weight and firmness in hand. With mischief in her eyes, she cooed quietly, "I was told that the darker and larger ones were much better." Laughing, I softly chided her, "Just a myth, my dear. They come in many shapes, sizes and shades. The darker, larger ones are not necessarily the best. And sometimes the smaller ones pack the biggest punch."

Lily raised the tip up to her soft, parted waiting lips. Looking into my eyes she quietly asked, "So? What are you waiting for?" Fire erupted, and her cheeks sucked in... Lily had her first taste of the wonderful HdM Des Dieux!...

And what a glorious thing the HdM Des Dieux is. Unlike the Des Dieux (2003, 50 cab) that Lily had, this particular one only has 6 years age. Whilst this was good and had all the hallmarks of the Des Dieux, it just didn't have the same power. The first third opened with typical HdM woodiness and a touch of vanilla. Just under medium bodied and pretty much stayed that way till the end. The burn was a bit wonky, but that may be due initially to the cracked foot and I also had a ceiling fan on. This was paired with a Camus Borderies ( @Luca was kind enough to bring over). The Camus had flavours of vanilla and tangerine, which paired nicely with the vanilla creamy woodiness of the DD.
