Kierkegaard Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Following almost a year of bad cigars, after smoking another horrible cigar( all cigars from many sources, even tried using a number different RH - tried 60, 62, 64, 66, 68 and 70; and different temperatures 15,16,17,18,19,20 degrees Celsius; using 5 different hygrometer that were calibrated using the Boveda kit), as of now I have decided to quit smoking... I just can't take it anymore. I think in this last year I must have smoked around 100 cigars, a hundred too many, with not one good cigar... Initially I thought there was something wrong with me, so I went to many doctors, got checked out and all was fine. Then, as a sort of test I started handing out these cigars to see if I was the only crazy one or if others felt the same way... Granted all were cigarette or pipe smokers... And aside from one who would smoke anything(hell, the guy even smoked a filter accidentally) they all agreed they were terrible... I miss a good cigar... The joy of writing with a cigar, alone with no one to bother me was one of the few pleasures I had... And yet, same location, same humidity, same temperature(and others), over 3 months rest and nothing... Just terrible... I want to thank this wonderful community for all the carefully thought out advice(cigar related and otherwise). I want to thank Rob and Dee, and all the other members of the staff who have had tremendous patience with me... My last good smoke was a box of ERDM Demi Tasse I managed to get through EU customs from Rob... Had I still been able to get cigars in from him, I doubt there would have been any problem. I might still try... Unless magically I get some cigars from Rob through, or I actually get a good cigar from an LCDH in Europe(which hasn't happened since it all went down at the end of 2017) this is sadly over... When cigars range in flavours from hot air, bitterness, just roughness that makes one want to scrape your tongue it is just not worth it. I hope I will be back, but who knows, the good part, while short, was a ball... Just loved it. Thanks again for everything. Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk
Ken Gargett Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 my only thought is that, aside from this being all very sad, palates change. it may simply be that yours has moved from cigars. in which case, little point in slogging on. good luck.
JohnS Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 @Kierkegaard, I'm sorry to hear this. Thank you for your contribution/s to our forum this past year-and-a-half.
koosh Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 I am dumbfounded and sad to hear about the number of bad cigars out there. I wish there was something that could be done to help.
