El Presidente Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Microsoft 365 is down for most of Oz this morning so if you are waiting on an email.....you know why It got me to thinking. Hypothetical. A little smart electronic terrorism. No access to email. No access to your bank accounts or credit cards No access to your phone. No access to any electronics (computer etc). How long could you survive without assistance in a world where digital networks are down globally.
havanaclub Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 5 mins. Lol Actually I find it great when I go to Cuba and the wifi at the resorts suck so much that I disconnect for a full week. It feels good. I am off to Cuba again this March so it will be nice to disconnect again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3 1

HarveyBoulevard Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 As long as necessary...until I run out of er...umm... Plenty of food Plenty of water Plenty of cigars Plenty of booze Plenty of er...um... 1
rckymtn22 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 7 days for sure. Every time I go to Cuba. I just use my tablet for reading books when there.
mtd057 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 I try to do that at least one week a year. Emphasis on "try". I think its great when I get the opportuity and it reminds me of my life until I was about 20 years old.
BJRPorter Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 1st day is weird. Then after that, I could go on endlessly. It is a gift!
wineguy Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 At least a few weeks. Other than food I have plenty of everything on hand and keep enough cash on hand for month or so of food... and then I could trade wine and cigars with my friends for food....
heftytome Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 By the title of this thread, I thought the discussion was going to be very different ? 1 3

Eric E Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 That’s an EOTWAWKI scenario. Im good for 18 months.
El Presidente Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 whoooooaaah! Cubanero's You have enough cash in the house for 7 - 14 days in cuba? Commercial planes won't be flying You won't be exchanging those ben franklins at the bank or the airport. I suspect some would be lucky to get out of their suburb

unclepauly25 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Being 44 years of age, I’m glad I grew up without all the technology, we used our imagination as kids to have fun and face to face interactions was all we needed. We knew where everyone was by all the bikes on the front lawn. I feel bad for the kids of today, they don’t know what it’s like to grow up in a world without technology, not that it’s a bad thing, I think it was nice to grow up without it ? 2
Popular Post TBird55 Posted January 30, 2019 Popular Post Posted January 30, 2019 About 7 years. Have a farm, couple thousand gallons of diesel, food no problem, cigars would run out then... 5
gweilgi Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Spent five days at a friend's last year who lives several hours' drive outside Broken Hill. The nearest place to spend any money at all was an hour's drive down the road. No phone reception, no wifi, no TV, no radio except two AM stations -- one Christian broadcaster and one sending repeats of old Cricket test matches. Day One was weird. Day Two was worse. But by Day Four I was really getting into it. The peace and quiet was amazing, and once I had reoriented my brains to non-electronic stimulation It was really very pleasant. 1
Lotusguy Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Cigars would last me a lifetime and then some. Booze - could make it last a couple of years. Food - a month. Water - years and years 1
cfc1016 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 1 tank of gas? I need my phone/internet access to work. I’d be SOL. None of my money is in hard currency ? I suppose I could go all Mad Max if i had to... 1
Jimmy_jack Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 In a still civilized society trying to deal with it? Probably okay but I would struggle. Strictly internet speaking I've wanted to disconnect for quite a while. In a complete breakdown every person for themself kind of disaster? I'd be better off. I have the "tools" to get what's needed and a family to provide for. I simply put social morales in a box, file it away in the back of the brain and do the work. May sound bad but hey...survival. cigaraholic Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 I’d be fine.....until the sun goes down 1
Jimmy_jack Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Legit talk...in a real breakdown nothing beats medicine and 1oz liquor bottles for trade.Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk 2
wineguy Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Because of our clays and bird hunting habit we always have a few thousand shotgun shells on hand which could be useful in that situation...
