Punch Punch 48 LCDH.  Gift from a friend.  Tasty cigar, with some nice cedar and cream flavors.  I read some unflattering reviews of it a year or so ago and had little in the way of expectations, but enjoyed it thoroughly.

Hiw did it compare to a regular punch punch.

I don't smoke punch punch often, but from recollection the two were quite different.  None of the molasses and pepper I remember from the PPs I've smoked in the past.  More creamy, toasted nuts, touch of wood.  But most reviews I had read suggested the 48 was bland with little flavor, and I did not find that to be the case at all.

I picked up a couple of boxes in Havana last November but haven’t had one yet. I figured they would need more time as they are LGR ABR 18. I should probably try one sometime soon to see if I should be getting more on my next trip. Your thoughts on it are encouraging.

I got this one loose from a friend, so can't speak to its age unfortunately.  Definitely let me know how yours smoke, I'm super curious.  I would buy a box based on my experience.

JL2. After hearing all the good things I picked up a box in Havana last fall. Did try one recently and was not disappointed.

That’s my favorite cigar, so far . . .

QdO Capitolio: A definitive winner despite the big RG. Quite a few ugly boxes out there so it's better not to buy this one blind. If you get a nice box they are perfect cigars. Construction is amazing, razor sharp burn and an amazing blend. A stellar cigar already, I can't even imagine what this one will be like in a few years. Will definitely get more boxes.

Trini La Trova: I had one in Germany a couple of weeks ago and was blown away. Another one not to buy blind. I saw a lot of boxes with underfilled cigars. Same as with the Capitolio, I can't even imagine what these will be like in a few years.

Mostly the new RE releases like the ERDM Petit Cayos, LGC Orgullosos, RG North Star, Dip Nortenos, SP Gran Quixote. No real misses in that lot, surprisingly.

I’ve had pretty much every regular release at some point in the past.

How were the North Star and Gran Quixote?  Both on my list to try.

I liked both of them. The North Star reminded me of the RG PP from Germany 2013. Too bad it’s so short.

The Gran Quixote was well constructed and I like figurados. I don’t smoke many SP and what I smoke is quite aged so not sure how it compares to other recent production SP but it tasted lighter and sweeter than I remember SP. Pleasant.

Good to know!  I am a big SP fan, but also don't smoke them young or particularly often.  I will have to check out both.
