AbasCigar Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Hello! My favourite note(with tobacco ofc) in cigars is sweet cream/ milk with vanilla and honey. I've found theese notes in Montecristo especial no 1 and cohiba coronas especiales. What other cigars do you advice me to try with theese notes? also should I go for a box of Cohiba coronas especiales or Montecristo especial no2 (haven't tried it yet) on the generous offer FOH have right now? thank you!
Cayman17 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 The last Siglo IV I smoked was all cream and honey. Exquisite ??
HDGSN Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 I get sweet cream/milk and vanilla from Hoyos and Upmanns.
Islandboy Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 When it comes to cream and milk, that’s Hoyo de Monterrey in a nutshell for me. 3
DeskSmkr Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Another vote for Hoyo de Monterrey, specifically Epicure No. 2 (maybe others as well.) And H Upmann Conni 1 Of the two choices, I think Cohiba Coronas Especiales because they are milder in flavor and don't have as much cocoa/chocolate. 2
DeskSmkr Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Rather than take our word for it, what do you think about a sampler from the store? 1

Colt45 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 For me the epitome of sweet cream / condensed milk are the Hoyo DC and Churchill. I've not found them to have any real notes of honey.
cmbarton Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 I get TONS of sweet cream from the HdM San Juan. Maybe more than any other vitola from HdM. I have a TOS 16 cab, for what it’s worth.
rabidraccoon Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Hoyo de Monterrey in general and Epicure Especial for sure. I definitely got tons of cream from the Monte Especial as well. I also find it a bit in Juan Lopez seleccion 1 but also with molasses and christmas spice (nutmeg, allspice).
AbasCigar Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 Thank you everyone for your input! My "have to try"- list is only growing by the day ?
OldEasy Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 I definitely agree only the Hoyo de Monterey Epicure No. 2, huge fan on those and definitely gives that sweet cream note. Likewise for most Cohibas, but I'd recommend particularly the Robusto, or as you noted the CCE. Also, if money wasn't an object I would go for CCE over Monte Especial No. 2 every day of the week. Limited sample size, but my roommate got a box of each and after trying a few and listening to his comments, the CCE's are some of the best cigars I've seen or tasted. While they can be good, the Montes were prone to plugs and have a much more concentrated flavor than the regular No. 2, and hence probably less of the flavor profile you're after. 1
Edward7 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Another vote for HdM Epicure 2 and Epicure Especial. One or the other is always available in my humidor because of this flavor.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Based on my admittedly limited experience, I found the especially no. 2 to have similar flavor notes to the regular Monte No. 2, but to be a bit stronger and more full-flavored and a tad harsher, or at least more emphasis on coffee and tobacco flavors. Therefore I found the smooth creaminess of a regular Monte No. 2 to be more in the background in the especial. My experience could be colored by the fact that most of the especial No. 2's I sampled were fairly tight and tended to get quite hot no matter how slowly they were smoked. Essentially I found the stronger flavors of the No. 2 to be even stronger in the especial No. 2, hence 'concentrated'.

Also way different flavor profiles to me. Monte 2 definitely more strength of flavors, concentrated coffee, tobacco vs. more creaminess/smoothness of the Especial No2 1
OldEasy Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Curious indeed haha! Have enjoyed both either way when good.
SOFLO88 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 I get lots of milk/cream from my Montecristo Petit Edmundo's.
MikeinKS Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 I have a box of HDM Epicure Especials (MAR 18) and a box of Epicure No. 2's (ABR 18) and both have been resting for about 60 days. I get a noticeably greater amount of sweet cream from the No. 2's. Anyone else have a similar experience?
