jakebarnes Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Got tix for their first show in a long while. Might be the last. Here for the 'Drag, especially at a great spot like SubT. If it is the last one, here's to that Knoxville sound one more time. 4
Glass Half Full Posted May 29 Posted May 29 A pair of arts celebrations happens this time of year here in Charleston, including a series of one-hour organ concerts(?!) hosted by local churches. These start @ 10am and the series runs for 1-2 weeks. My family’s not religious, so it’s fun to stop into so these different houses of worship with no expectations from anyone: Everyone’s just there for the brief concerts, appreciating music made through an overwhelmingly large instrument; and then there’s the beauty of the places themselves. Yesterday morning’s concert was at Mother Emanuel AME. Their organ is a “Zimmer” nicknamed “Big Bertha” and is said to be 115+ years old (though just underwent an 18-month refurbishment). The visiting organist — Wesley Hall — his performance ranged from Bach to Connor Chee (a Native American composer) to current “classics,” such as this by John Williams Thought you all might enjoy it too

I've tried listening to a couple of the recordings they've done and couldn't bear to finish either! I did see a comment on a fan page that seemed quite sincerely to be suggesting that she'd helped him escape some kind of road traffic accident and that he'd subsequently felt that he owed her one, as it were. I've no idea if there's any truth to that but her involvement is certainly believable as some kind of "make a wish foundation" gig! But who's to say? Bucket is an unconventional character to say the least!
