I know that quality control in Habanos S.A. can be wacky from time to time but just want to know how does the quality control done by Habanos S.A. before importing cigars to the world.

On CCW, the Fumigation & Conditioning and freezing are included during quality control process but Habanos S.A. seems to forget to add them on their academy page. Can you please explain the quality control processes in Habanos S.A. step by step????

Cubatabaco's and HSA's processes surrounding just about everything are a mystery.

Since the cigars are boxed, stamped and placed into mastercases at the factory in which they're rolled the mastercases are probably transported to the freezing facility and then are loaded to be exported from there.

As far as any step-by-step description of anything they do, that's not something many people can tell you.

In all fairness, believe it or not HSA is relatively forthcoming with much of their production information compared to NC producers who's methods are generally very secretive.

LHA,

I will consult 'The World of the Habano' by Habanos S.A. when I get back from my trip in a few weeks (if someone else doesn't earlier). Alternatively, I may also check Adriano Martinez Rius' 'The Great Book of the Habano'.

Technically you have QC at every level from production to boxing.

In the factory, it is a Tabacuba issue. HSA has nothing to do with it.

Once HSA receives the cigars at its warehouse. It has a six man team (from memory) spot checking boxes looking for problems. if a problem exists, further investigation is made and the boxes are returned to the factory manager (and the issue recorded).

The system doesn't work.

To fix the system, the six QC guys at the HSA factory should move out of the HSA warehouse into the fabricas on spot checking rotation. They should be Imperial tobacco paid (real dollars).

It is never going to happen under the current system as it would disrupt all the factory side businesses.

Yup, as it had been the very idea behind the foundation of Habanos S.A. in 1994 to keep the venture partner out of the production side and retaining its full state control.

Much appreciated! I am also waiting JohnS's help also :-) Too bad that HSA seems to be suffered from some kind of bureaucracy for long time...

ive always had the feeling that habanos attitude is, you want the best tabacoo in the world? well here it is, you dont like our QC then dont buy it we will sell it anyway... where most NC have to earn their consumers due to the massive competition they have to go that extra mile. NC tend to get looked down on by most cuban smokers but if you had that kind of consistency you would be doing back flips and not care nearly as much about box codes .... tho i wish NC would at least put on dates

i know it would make robs grading alot easier lol... open a box psp open a box psp open a box hmm hq? no psp ?

I agree that buying blind is greater risk that we expected! I myself saw super veiny Trinidad Reyes, RASS which was dead as pale in local B&M, this is the reason why I am decided to buy CCs from FOH exclusively instead of local B&M since 2018...

It’s funny I but NC blind 100% of the time and never once had a single bad stick... it can happen mind you like Alec bradley was a small company and won cigar of the year from CA and couldn’t keep up with demand and they hit a really bad patch but and back on track, but those are really rare occasions why I wish NC would put a date on the box would also help to know if it’s aged or not (yes you can age NC and some brands like tat can see amazing results)

Surprised to see that NCs do not state box code at all...
