komodo Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Coffee is a hobby that is a bit out of control. For a daily (aka "eye-opening") cup it's just mocha pot and Arabica mixed with Robusta. For a fancy cup - it's Guatemalan Huehue (the last batch was from Encore and I love it) + Chemex. 1
ChanceSchmerr Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Coffee Slut Columbia blend. Stovetop Espresso-maker. Dee-lish! 1

FatherOfPugs Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 Got these yesterday from a local Dallas roaster. Having the Lady of the Lake this morning. 1
FatherOfPugs Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 New one for me, picked this up today, going to brew it tomorrow morning.

Started on a Whirley Pop, now use a Behmor and roast a couple times a month. Favorite is probably Yirgacheffe. I've roasted a dozen or so batches of Yemen and just can't get it as good as my Yemeni friend who used to source green and roast himself. Great hobby. 1
FatherOfPugs Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 Opened this up and enjoyed some this morning. Love me some Kona Mountain dark roast private reserve.
worlok Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 I mainly use bricks of either Cafe Bustelo or Cafe Aroma, and I brew them in a reusable K-cup in my single cup brewer. I prefer latte style but I do drink it black on occasion. 1
garbandz Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 just roasted up some Zambia (pull ) Mafinga....... a bit past full city roast, shiny beans at the brink. did some last week to just city roast, and did some Brazil to a serious dark roast, just for blending. very good blend, rich but not burnt.......... 2
MoneyPit Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 Just got these from my favorite craft micro roaster. The Ethiopian yirgacheffe is incredibly flavorful with a natural blueberry jam taste. 1

FatherOfPugs Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Tried the Tree Top Flyer this morning, pretty good. Going with the Java tomorrow morning.
Frozen North Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 My son buys organic Ethiopian beans. He roasts them himself. I must admit, his coffee is amazing. I’m sure he could sell it.
Bill Hayes Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 3 cafes are within 5 mins walk from my place. My favourite is Leroy on Acland St. They use Zest brand coffee.

You definitely like darker roasts than I do What do you roast with? I have used the popcorn crank poppers, then eventually bought a Behmor. I'm finally hitting my stride with it and really hitting consistency and roast levels that nail my tastes perfectly. Sweet Maria's has been a great resource, then I have also purchased from TheCoffeeProject. They have a Costa Rican I adore, along with a really nice Brazil. They used to be one of the best sources for Yemen too. Fun hobby that complements cigars very nicely!
captaincaveman Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Drinking a Vibrant Coffee (local Philadelphia engineer turned coffee roaster) Ethiopia Tigesit Waqa Natural - flavor notes are blueberry wine & flowers, luxurious. Spectacular. 2
nKostyan Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Good Cuban coffee. Everything else I tried was terrible. 3
PaulPower Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Love me a home roasted Ethiopian Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
ArthurHolo Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 We prefer Lavazza. Bought a coffee-maker for my wife as a present. Already tried different recipes and different coffee. The first one for us is still Lavazza and the least is Luwak coffee we brought from Thai. We can't say that it was bad but nothing special. Or maybe we did something wrong while brewing it.? 2
nKostyan Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 Arrivals from Janus today. real Cuban coffee or "cuban seeds"? 1

Here's their official description of it from their website: "Our special Cuban Coffee blend is a trip down memory lane for anyone who has been to Miami and a treat for anyone unfamiliar with Cuban Coffee. Weather your fixing your own Café cubano or a cafecito, the rich flavor and bold aroma will leave you begging for more. Coffee Origin: Brazil, India, Nicaragua Roast Level: Dark" 1
