I seem to have mislayed my eye watering expensive cutter so am in the market for a new one.

It seems a fait few people think these are very good;

Has anyone used one and are they any good?

Yes, this is the best cutter out there imo, I've had mine going on 8yrs now, never had an issue.

Agree, I have several of them. Very good cutters. You can get them for about 1/2 that price though.

I may have to give them a try then, I mainly use a punch if truth be told, however my current one seems to be getting a bit dull. Any recommendations for a replacement?

If you don’t mind spending a “little” more, I really like my Monte scissors.  Expensive but certainly a nice cutting tool and addition to your collection.  If you wait till the holidays, you can usually get them for less then $60 on sale.  

I have never been a fan of normal cutters since if you get a strand of tobacco inside the housing, you’ll never get it out and it will jam the cutter.  Scissors prevent this problem and are easy to clean.

Been happy for over 10 years, still sharp. This cutter feels solid and has weight

Try cleaning it and using a file to sharpen it. Otherwise, your fingernails

I use this one.  I don’t know if it is any better or worse than any other cutter, but it does come with a lifetime warranty.  

.....And more importantly, it looks like a TIE Fighter from Star Wars.

Ive got a Xikar Xi2 - have had it for about 4 years and its like the day i bought it, plus it comes with a lifetime warranty

I have that exact one and it's the cutter I use most often (past 2 years). It is built solid with nice weight to it, still in excellent condition and sharp as ever but it comes with a Lifetime Warranty as well.

Picked up a colibri v cutter, and am liking it so far.  Only other cutters I've used have been guillotine ones.  I've looked at picking up that Cuban Crafters one, but not a priority yet.

I've owned a lot of cutters.  Most I would not buy a second time, and those included some fancy pricey ones. 

But the first time I used this Xikar X8 cutter (good to 70 ga), I knew I had found my favorite one.  When you start the cut, the edges grab and stay exactly on that cut.  These are some very sharp blades and I've not seen any variance in 500 cigars or so.  My buddies always ask if I have my Xikar cutter when they are over for a smoke.  Most have bought their own too.  They are about $28.  I like it much better than the Xikar Xi2 above.  The cut is so much smoother.

Yeah I splurged on that one and it's just the best. Especially if you're a bit on the clumsy side, the two synchronized blades is a game changer.

It's not essential, but it's really freaking nice.

I love the X8 so much that I own several - I have one at home, one that stays in my herfador for travel, one on my desk at work, I even keep one at my mom's house.

 

Then a few months ago I discovered the Palio, and now I'm torn between the 2...
