I had an email this morning asking for my thoughts on the best of the Minuto/Perla offerings.

In terms of consistency, they are all there or thereabouts. In that case it comes down to personal preference. Give us your top 2 :cigar:

Oh man...

I'll have to split this one into "at their best" vs. "smoking the best right now".

At their best, BCJ and Siglo I.

Right now, RASCC and El Principe

That's a tough one.

I picked RASCC and Shorts, but would have added the BCJ and the MC #5 and the Perla, love them all. When short on time, it's what I reach for.

I'm very interested in the result of this poll as I recently (just last week, in fact) intimated in my mid-2018 Video Review Series that the two most popular minutos/perlas would probably be the Partagas Shorts and Montecristo No.5 based on sales. Most popular amongst us enthusiasts/aficionados could be a different scenario though! ?

I'm surprised the RG Perlas does not have more votes.  Fantastic cigar.  That and the RASCC always deliver.

This is the first time I’ve been able to participate in a poll because I am normally on Tapatalk but it is acting up again. Really like a few of them but love an aged Siglo I.

I have a 2013 box of RG Perlas that are nothing short of amazing.

I've smoked more RASCC than the rest and they're amazing. The Príncipe smoke very well.

So what I'm saying is those are my top 3. LOL

I'm a big fan, but I'm afraid it's not the best of this bunch. There's stiff competition here. Not knocking the Monte 5 either, but as you can see it's trailing the others as well, and I agree with that despite @JohnS's correct assessment that it's almost certainly the best-seller of the entire lot. I have a feeling the El Principe is probably the worst or second-worst seller in the lot but that belies it's worth.

The RASCC and El Principe are just special cigars to me. Just so well blended and remarkably reliable and consistent year to year for 15+ years.

That being said, I do think the BCJ and the Siglo I have the potential to be the best but inconsistency is the issue there. I have smoked some 96-97 point BCJ and Siglo I in my life. None of the others have come close to that. But good luck getting those.

I am surprised the Party Short has the lead. I've always felt it's a cigar that just kind of tops out at 93-94 points. Can be very good but never had a tremendous one, and it's certainly a cigar that has experienced more inconsistency than RASCC or El Principe over the long term.

For me, Party Shorts have been consistently good.

The other choice was not so straightforward, but I went with Trini Reyes in the end. I’ve had good ones and not so good ones, but, when they’re on, it’s an exceptional cigar.

Voted the same -- it's a bit shocking, actually, how few people are voting for the RASCC.

If consistency and value are out of the equation, there is no competition in that group for the Reyes.  As said above, when they are on, nothing else comes close.  With consistency and value included as factors, Shorts would be my pick.

I agree. RASCC has never had the overwhelming popularity of the Party Shorts, Monte 5 or Siglo I. I still consider it as MRN does--an insider's cigar. I also think it's a bit strong for many people, particularly recent production and also when less than 5 years old. It is not a smooth ride like the Shorts or Siglo I by any means, and it's nothing like the RASS which is much more refined and consequently much more popular.

Personally, I love them and always have and they've been remarkably reliable for 15 years. And I've never liked the RASS.

Reyes and shorts were my votes. But a Principe is a close 3rd

Voted depute and Reyes. Probably smoke the most depute and not that many Reyes but those are the top ones for me.

Next would be El Principe. Lot of other good ones but I tend to prefer other formats for those marcas (much rather Siglo II than Siglo I, BPC over BCJ, RGPC over perlas, etc.).
