Popular Post SigmundChurchill
Took an early morning drive out to the beach house after a long night of work, to find my wife hosting a boot camp on the basketball court. The instructor asked me to join in, and as tempting as that was, I went straight to the deck and lit up a Siglo VI instead. It was exhausting just watching them. 13

It takes about two days for the starter culture to inoculate in the heating box and for the ph to lower. Once that is achieved, they are hung for a month or so. The large ones are about 7 lb each and take longer to cure. It was a big pain to do them all. Some real effort to say the least. A lot of cutting, freezing, grinding, mixing, stuffing etc... That’s some wine cellar! 2

Interesting... You can hear things rattle and shake on the bike you never heard before. They're noisy machines. When I see movies and guys on bikes going 80 mph and no eyewear I'm like that's total BS. Go 30 mph without shades on and your eyes are tearing immediately. Thanks @StogieSteve23 Steve! Appreciate the sentiment. The first thing you learn when you take the motorcycle safety course is SIPDE. If you've done it you know what I'm talking about. The claim is that the brain activity of a motorcyclist rivals that of a fighter pilot. There is a lot of info coming in thru the senses and decisions must be made in seconds if not sooner. I will say... There's very little that compares to the adrenaline rush of going 140 mph on a sport bike, from my experiences. Btw it's known that motorcycle speedometers lie. We're never really going "that" fast, but it's fun to see it on the dash. But it always struck me as crazy that the people in FL don't wear helmets, even with all of the old people driving around. Back when I first started riding, the thing that took me the longest time to learn is that scratching my helmet does not relieve the itch on my head. On 6/29/2020 at 3:29 PM, ElJavi76 said: Sorry to hear about your friend, Steve. Condolences to his friends and his family. Riding is fun but you always have to consider the fact that your life isn't just in your hands. You're sharing the road... Which is why you have to assume every driver is a complete idiot. The worst thing that happens is a good Samaritan waving you to turn when they're across from you but you weren't ready. I never accept on a bike. I had 1 spill my first year riding and thank God I've never spilled again. I move when I'm ready to move. Laying on your back in the middle of the street while cars whiz by at 50 mph without a care. Nobody stopped to even ask if I was ok. It's like many other dangerous hobbies... Gotta be responsible with your toys. @SigmundChurchill I try to scratch my head all the time. LoL My other fav on a bike is the infamous 2 fingers down salute... Except guys on cruisers don't always reciprocate for some reason. I guess, crotch rocket = no bueno. Rode a Harley for the first time in Mexico with no helmet, rear end locked up as I was braking for a light. Then I got the death wobble, but I was able to recover by just releasing the brake and reapplying. ATGATT since that time! I don’t recall SIPDE, but I just ride as if everyone/everything is trying to kill me haha On 6/29/2020 at 4:23 PM, SigmundChurchill said: Guys on cruisers claim that guys on "rice burners" don't reciprocate, so I guess it works both ways. I guess a good start toward better communication and mutual respect would be for them to stop calling them rice burners. I'm not about to tell a Hells Angel that, but if you feel up to it, let me know how he responds as soon as you are able to type again. Yes Steve, my condolences on your friend. I give 2 down to everything on two wheels, even trikes and bicycles! I like when it’s reciprocated, but even if it wasn’t, I would still enjoy doing it.

I haven't buy it since about 6-7 years ago, as it's difficult to source. Classic fruity; bitter chocolate; floral; citrus; tangy; full strength ale beer. The back-story -- when I built my retirement home the architect designed a covered second floor porch. My brother told me to delete it from the plan as every second floor porch he'd ever seen was never used (My brother takes care of peoples second homes in FL as his business). I didn't delete it thankfully, but, for the first 3 years he was right - we did not use it. Just before all of this COVID-19 shutdown, I decided to take this on as s a "project" and convert it over to my smoking porch. Of course, I had to come up with a design that my wife would approve which meant it couldn't be just a "guys place to smoke and joke". You've seen many of my Daily Smoke pictures from here at night. The area has two ceiling fans and overhead speakers. My (FCFARW) post was taken here while listening to The Who's Next ... below is really the smoking area with a homemade concrete and epoxy table and cast iron rocking chairs (it gets pretty windy here as we are on an inlet off the Atlantic Ocean) as everything on the porch needs to be heavy! The Padron 64 box contains 2 torch lighters, 2 credo cutters, cigar matches, the remote control for the ceiling fans and a PerfectDraw. What more does a cigar smoker need? I also included a 110" teak bench that doubles as extra seating that can be moved around when we have guests -- but, is really my afternoon golf napping area -- notice the pillows that are really old bedroom pillows. My wife picked the colors and pillows. Lastly, this is her area where she will join me when I'm smoking a cigar. With the small light she often just reads a book as she relaxes in the lounger. The daytime view which is often hard to see at night with my cigar pictures. That’s a big second floor balcony! Very nicely done. 5
Popular Post SigmundChurchill
We had a little get-together at the beach house. We didn't invite too many people because of social distancing, which I am still not sure we did such a great job with, but nobody was allowed in the house except to use the rest room, which is right inside the side door. It was well needed though, and kind-of therapeutic in a way. It was a tequila-themed night, and I handed out Esmeraldas to the guys who smoke regularly (D4's to the guys who don't).

Popular Post StogieSteve23
Well, the addition from hell is finally over, for the most part. Terrible degenerate contractors down here (not all, just all that my grandparents have had), have taken almost a year to complete one room and couple small bathrooms. If you remember back in April/May, I had done a lot of painting at their place on the exterior of the addition, as the painters were essentially non-existent, despite saying they were coming to do the job.. Again, it happened with the final piece of the project that had cedar siding installed (over a month and a half later than the stuff before)... The guys did a terrible job of priming the wood (got plenty of primer on places I had already painted), then left it for almost another month. I finally got so sick of looking at primed wood and my grandparents wanted it done, this weekend in finished for them. Below are the before (primed), mid (after first coat on siding/trim), after (after second coat). Not terrible but not the best work i'd say... But then again, I'm no professional painter... Had an amazing Mag 50 as a little reward afterwards.

Back in 2006, the Benq PE8700 DLP projector was one of the best on the market. Paired it with a top of the line motorised 115" projector screen and Bose Lifestyle 12 series II sound system. Nowadays, all are considered antiques. Always thought I'd upgrade the projector, but with TVs getting bigger and better, I never got motivated enough. Plus, the cost is ridiculous. Popular Post Meklown
Nearing the end of the second period of lockdown, but the partner's birthday came around so we invited a chef and had a little celebration at home with just 1 guest (her best friend). We love the Japanese omakase usually so we decided to have one at home "homakase". For those who are not familiar, it's basically a meal where the chef decides what to serve, and prepares each bite individually. For us, we usually go for the sushi/sashimi-themed ones, but there are also different small bites. Houses in HK are tiny, so this is our open kitchen. Cleaned it up and rearranged the table before the chef's arrival, and started with a TML. Chef setting up after arrival Ready and waiting for the friend to arrive Arrived with the present and a drink I'm not about to post every single food pic, but here's a selection - Starters - raw corn, tomato, mackerel, fig Sashimi - chef even brought their plates Seared scallop with prawn head concentrate Toro - tuna belly Soup as finisher - doesn't look impressive but it was fresh, sweet, complemented by a dash of yuzu to add some tanginess. Absolutely fantastic. Peach for dessert. It was dripping while he cut it Selfie with chef, with serious Asian flush Drinks for the night (in order, left to right) - made a mistake and should have drank the 2nd bottle first as it had less body and flavours as compared to the first. Fantastic night all round, would have never thought to have a private chef party like that if not for covid.
