Homer
14 hours ago, SigmundChurchill said: No, I am an Anesthesiologist. Here in the US, intensive care is a sub-specialty of Anesthesiology. And since basically the entire hospital is now an ICU for COVID patients, we dont have nearly enough Intensive Care docs to cover all the patients, so the anesthesiologists are treating them. This is not just in my hospital, but in all of the ones that are overrun with COVID patients. After all, there are only emergency surgeries anyway, so they dont need us in the operating rooms. We commandeered these Stryker space suits from the orthopedic department. We retrofitted the air intake with hepa filters, and we wear them when we intubate covid patients. Intubating these patients is extremely dangerous for both the doctor and the patient. We are right in the mouth, and the process of intubating aerosolizes the virus, so we wear these suits and make everybody else leave the room and we close the door, in case the patient coughs during the intubation. It is dangerous for the patient because we dont mask ventilate them. Mask ventilating them REALLY aerosolizes the virus. The entire room would be filled with virus within a minute or two. So we have no way of getting oxygen into the patient after we paralyze the patient. We have to find the vocal cords and get the tube in quickly before the patient dies. Strange times we are in. Those Strykers space suits look great. I am glad you have those. I am rhinologist and we have now cancelled allmost all of our surgeries because of the risk aerosolizing the virus. COVID sucks. Stay safe and healthy my colleague!

Popular Post Bri Fi
Rebuilding a deck that was supposed to be a two hour stair project turned out to be a week long after finding dry rot. Finally finished and had a partagas for the 90 point review comp. Now I gotta stain the deck. That’s for another week. 15

Popular Post TheFullMontecristo
Dedicated 10 x 14 cigar room slowly taking form (got tired of smoking in poorly ventilated and poorly heated garage during winters). Inline 700 cfm exhaust fan vented through window clears the room consistently. Solid HU2 tonight with some Speyside Aberlour.

Popular Post SigmundChurchill
My dog, Ollie, was in bad need of grooming. He was shaggier than ever, with lots of matted hair under the surface. Because of the lockdown, all of the mobile groomers are so busy that they are not taking new clients. Even if the regular groomers were open, Ollie has been banned in every grooming establishment in town. So I thought it was a good idea to buy some grooming shears and do it myself. Amazon, was completely sold out of anything but the cheapest grooming shears, which would never work on my dog’s coat, but I found one at a pet store in another town who was doing curbside pickup. Here is a before picture: Then, this is after the first attempt: This is after the second attempt: I still have to do his legs and paws, which are only partially done, but he absolutely refuses. This dog, who hears my car coming from down the street and cries at the door until I come in, who is constantly licking me to the point that I cant take it anymore, bit me twice when trying to groom his legs and paws, drawing blood both times. He wouldn’t even look at me all night last night. This morning, he is back to his old self. I think I might have to leave well enough alone, and next time get some sedatives before attempting to groom him again. 9

I love Bernese Mountain Dogs, but my wife is highly allergic, so we ended up with a bernedoodle. Worked out well. She is not the least bit allergic to him. Here he is as a puppy, before his Bernese colors faded. From what I have seen, almost all of them fade within the first 2 years.

Habana Mike
Tried to groom our last dog. Didn't work out so well. I use the shears to trim my beard. At least I did until the lockdown. I'll be full ZZ Top with a ponytail by the time this moves past to any degree! 1

Popular Post StogieSteve23
Put in about 45 hours painting at my grandparents house over the last two weeks. They had an addition put on recently that's 75 percent complete and due to COVID, its progress has come to a standstill. They've been wanting this painted for some time now and weren't going to wait any longer for it to be done to have the painters do it. There were a few more existing areas in green that I had painted over in grey to match the rest of the back. These were easy as they only needed one coat. The addition, like the rest of the house is unfinished cedar an soaked up the paint like the desert sand during an infrequent rain storm. It required 2-4 coats in some areas. I'm no professional painter but I think it turned out ok. Here are a few before/after pics of the siding/trim work I had to paint. Now kicking back with a little cedar peanut butter Famosos.

Popular Post SigmundChurchill
After quarantining at home for the last couple of months, the family needed a change of scenery, so we came out to the beach house this week. When I’m not smoking cigars, and sometimes even when I am, my son and I have been playing with our new drone. Getting some great footage out here. I am not sure why my 4K videos, are coming out 1080p on YouTube. Maybe it’s a YouTube thing, and I just have to get an editing app to do 4K. Here is one of the many flights we recorded this week...
