Popular Post GVan Posted December 24, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 24, 2022 I was invited to this year's Army / Navy game dubbed "America's Game" in Philadelphia. As it was cold - glad to be in a heated box. You really go to the stadium early to watch the Midshipmen and Cadets march on the field, salute the crowd and then of course the parachute jumps and several military flyovers. This year the game did not disappoint going double-overtime - a first in the 124 year history for the game. My deepest thanks to all those that have and currently serve! 20

I’ve been wanting to take a weekend trip to Madrid by myself, just to visit the Prado Museum and smoking cigars. Rembrandt, Velázquez, Goya, Rubens, El Greco, El Bosco ect ect. They have so many of the great masters in their collection. the reason for my first trip to Madrid was exactly that - well, specifically, to see the Goya Black Paintings. and they do not disappoint. of course, so much more there as well. hieronymus bosch and Velazquez two other huge favourites. have been back a number of times. also picasso with guernica at the reina sofia up the road (one trip, the queue for the prado was about a mile long but at sofia, i literally had the top couple of floors to myself). no idea what was going on. that is also where i first came across the works of anselm kiefer. huge fan of his. and they have some amazing ones. so much more. also the Thyssen-Bornemisza. some brilliant Dali works there and again, so much more. unfortunately, a bit more than a weekend trip for some of us. but i really encourage you to do it. you will not regret it. 2
Popular Post Hypersomniac Posted December 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 27, 2022 This is the first time my wife and I haven't had Christmas with either of our families. We tried to make it memorable. We started off with some Laurent-Perrier champagne. We don't have champagne often, but figured we needed to celebrate surviving the past year and a half. Then we moved on to pumpkin gnocchi. Next, there was Cornish game hen, Brussels sprouts with bacon, and popovers. Finally, we followed it up with Christmas cookies. If you can't tell, our kids love sprinkles. I thought we would be safe with chicken and bread (two things my children love), but no; the kids barely ate a bite. No matter, I was still able to relax with a Bolivar petit corona. 13 1

Looks the same as it did in '79 when I went to CU. Now my best man's nephew is the Offensive Coordinator there...I think I'm older 😁

Yep, they were there a couple of times in the 2 years I lived in Boulder. Filmed in front of the house and on the mall at the New York Deli. Don't know if that's still there. 2
