Footy finals are over - Let the Redenning Begin. Gingers Assemble. Sound the conch! Enjoyed a Korean feast for Korean thanksgiving on the Friday before the AFL Grand Final then enjoyed a lovely N23 Lanceros, with Ginger beer and far too much sun on the Sunday before the NRL Grand Final. Ha ha!

Pics of team Canada getting ready for the WKU (World Karate and Kickboxong Union) world championships, and my daughter and her friend. 

She's a 2 division national champ, but coming off a significant injury, so we're just hoping for a good time.

Had a good fall steelhead trip recently. Went 13 for 13 on steelhead in 2 and a half days. Excellent weather! The young angler James was successful as well!

It was a long week, but it was a great tournament.  It was the most attended WKU world championships with over 3000 starts - team Germany alone accounted for over 400 athletes. 

My daughter fought well, but didn't place in her kids point sparring division. She held her own against a black belt despite her own martial arts journey being all of 14 months.

She ended up with a bronze in the kids continuous sparring division! She's at the front of the podium in one of the pics, and the other pic is her and her teammate Sophia. They were 1st and 2nd in the nation, and 1st and 3rd in the world. Both from the same dojo.

I'm so proud of my daughter, team Canada, and all of the WKU members for some amazing sportsmanship over the week.

Next year is the island of Rhodes,  Greece 😁

This past weekend was Opening Day Duck Season in Illinois with my son.  I haven't hunted ducks or geese in 10+ years - used to be a big hobby of mine.  My son has been trying to get me to come out for years and I finally did so.  Fantastic 3 day hunt, lots of fun, lots of laughing in the blind and even a few Amante Canonazo's on Sunday morning with coffee waiting for legal shooting time.  Stunning sunrises from the blind and a pretty good hunt.  Sunday dinner my son made seared duck breasts with cherries, cheesy potatoes, brussel sprouts baked in bacon fat and a shrimp appetizer - served with a 2019 Franks Family Napa Cab - absolutely awesome.  Finished the Monday hunt with cigars and Bloody Marys around the backyard fire pit.
