Popular Post zyxwvu44
What sort of cigar related barn finds have you found? I was on craigslist and found a humidor for sale...immediately drove 1.5 hours to pick this thing up! An Aristocrat from 2005, complete with dry, broken, damaged and aged cubans! It was big mess, a bit of mold in the active humidifier, and lot of sad looking expensive cigars. Ruined Cohiba 35th I'm going to attempt to recover these guys https://imgur.com/dweCq4C but i doubt anything good will come of them. There's a slight warp in the inner door panel from who knows what, so i caulked it with low odor sealant and screwed the trim panel back on. Good as new! https://imgur.com/JzoeQzw After cleanup the humidifier should be good to go and shes now re-seasoning for the next few weeks until i move cigars in. Shop-vaccumed out the whole thing very thoroughly to get rid of anything bad. All in all, I was able to snag an Aristocrat with some cigar history for a steal and some elbow grease....Full Album I am curious to see what great finds you guys have had?

Derboesekoenig
My god! Yeah I would have done the same. Ran over there ASAP. I can't find any deals near that. Aren't Aristocrats made in Dallas though? Does anyone know if they have a storefront or deals if bought locally? Hmmm...

Might be an option....

magoo6541
My humidor is also from criagslist. It's an Eurocave that I converted to a humidor. Cost was $100 plus $200 for the spanish cedar. I also found a collection sale one time. Guy had to give up cigars for health reasons and his son listed his large collection on craigslist. I went to see the collection in person and was surprised to see a large walk in humidor in the house with lots and lots of aged cubans and Padrons. Lots of CoRo, CoLa, Espys, discontinued HdM, Punch, LGC, HU. The way he acquired them was through a friend that regularly traveled to Cuba. Boxes, warranty seals, cigars looked good. Some of the bands were a little suspect. I purchased a few and after confirming a couple irregularities, I opened a couple of them up. Broke my heart to cut open a 10+ y/o CoRo, LGC Tanios but suspicions were right. They were rolled by laying out the leaf flat on the table and rolling them as one. There were some that the filler was just breaking apart and falling out. I couldn't tell if they were just that dry and were disintegrating or if it was short filler/floor sweepings. I took what I had back the next day and talked with the father. I asked for my money back and was surprised that he agreed, minus the couple I cut up. He wasn't sure what I meant by entubado bunching/rolling. I brought along a Monte 2 tent peg that I had and dissected it and compared his to mine. He thought I didn't know my ass from a hole in the ground and I watched too much YouTube. Said they were rolled that way because they were in a hurry because there were lots of floods that year... Whatever. Got my money back. Felt a little bad for the guy for having a collection of fakes. Hopefully some of them were legit and as long as he enjoyed them, they were real enough I guess. I always wondered how his friend really got them. Did he have a connection that claimed he was stealing from a factory and gave him a good price? Or was is something where he was buying from someone in an alley instead of a store? Would love to know just to satisfy my curiosity.

I was looking for those as well but haven't seen one for less than a few thousand. Pretty crazy when people have such nice setups and let them rot or invest money in fakes. Davin
Just a little note to hope on the cigars themselves. I had bought a 25 cab of Sig IIs for my brother about 8-10 years ago which he kept in a desktop humidor and didn’t really maintain the conditions. Guaranteed they went years dried out. Had one yesterday and I was very impressed, not magical but very very good. Worth taking a little time on what most might consider hopeless cigars. Best of luck and congrats on grabbing a beauty.
prodigy
My humidor was also a steal. It's no aristocrat, but for $150 it was a no brainer. I've also found 2 very large dunhill desktop humidors that were a steal on ebay. I'll post some pics of them later tonight when I get home.
