So the wife is heading to Ireland for a week, and she is going to grab a couple of bottles for me. Any recs. on some good whiskey , on the lower peat side? I am unfamiliar with much from there so could use some help. Max 80 euros. Thanks!

All Irish whiskies I have had are on the lighter side flavor wise, so I would not worry on too much peat.  The Irish whiskey goes down faster than the Scottish stuff IMO.

Any Irish pubs in your town to try a few out?

Seeing as it is his wife heading over, not sure a pub would be of much help.

@BellevilleMXZ are you asking specifically about Irish Whisky, or scotch is good? Also, what airport will she be flying back home from?

Bushmills 16yr Single Malt is really lovely! I grabbed a bottle after trying it at a trade show last year. Found it very smoothe and easy drinking. The brand is excellent and you can't go wrong with it.

Looking online at Dublin duty free, the following jumped out at me at around your price point:

https://www.theloop.ie/p/16200/age-of-discovery-19-year-old-mix-pack-3-x-20cl

https://www.theloop.ie/p/16030/triple-cask-16-year-old-scotch-whisky-70cl

https://www.theloop.ie/p/16112/kavalan-concertmaster-port-cask-finish-taiwanese-whisky

And if you feel like buying something for your pal Shlomo, I am sure he'll send a couple sticks your way as a thank you...;)

The Red Breast 12 yr is a nice pour and should be in your range, the 15 yr runs about 100€ but is a nice step up if you want to splurge

Cheaper to buy locally at a B&M (in my locale) than those prices at the Duty Free!

Would have to call a few places to find out.  Quick look around online & I see Talisker 10 for $55 perhaps even cheaper.  Is that a good price?  I am not Scotch drinker.  Must be cheaper than SAQ

Around $325, cash price. It’s not easy to find though.

Had someone look it up and it's not available in MA as far as he could see.

It’s available in Pennsylvania, but the price is $800 per bottle (plus tax) here (750ml).

Not the same beast. I dont know if $55 usd is a good price for Tali 10. We are fortunate that it has flown under the radar here and our shop carries it at $79can. Should be closer to $100can.

That is an incredible price. Lucky you if you are able to snag one or 12 at that LOW price...
