Why are farm rolls different?

Recommended Posts

Watching YouTube videos, farm rolled cigars seem very different than shop or factory rolled. Instead of bunches or entubado, they just stack them onto a binder leaf and roll them.

How does this method compare when smoking? Is it because it’s more of a tourist demo?

Some farm rolls are utter crap and some are Legendary. Depends on the leaf they have available, what they actually want to accomplish and their roller.

Some Farm Rolls are a money-grab. If you know the right people you can get an experience in the top 5% of what's possible in cuba tobacco. Saying "Farm Roll" is being truthful if its rolled at a farm but that should be no indicator of quality.

Also, Farm Rolls are usually wet. Don't smoke them till they've had time to dry the heck out. Give em a few months at 60-65%.

The BHK Vitola we purchased in 2016, I let them rest for a year. Had one about six months ago and it was straight up the best cigar and had in a year or two. Of course, it was surprisingly cheap then and from what I’ve heard they’ve gone up exponentially since then.
