An update... High Roller Lobster Co. is definitely the ****, great roll! Worth the visit overall. An old school traditional American diner vibe, with a little too much electricity. Great food, great beer selection... what’s that Vincent Vega line from Pulp Fiction... “like a wax museum with a pulse”... kinda felt a little like that.

Thanks@cfc1016 for the inside info!

Steve, if you're able, you should stop in Portsmouth NH on your way back down.

Hey man, unfortunately, won’t have the time. Another one to put in the books for the next trip! Cheers! Look forward to catching up in Boston soon, dude! :)

Love Portland, and lobster rolls. Was just up there a few weeks ago basically eating and drinking. Eventide is a great spot. Central Provisions also has some tasty stuff.
I'll have to try Evenside. I'm headed up there for my aniversary in a few weeks.

I had this at Red’s in Wiscasset Maine today. Bad photo of a good lobster roll. The best I know of is done at the Fiendly Fisherman in Eastham Massachusetts. My buddy rich and I did a survey over the last few years to find the best lobster roll on cape Cod. After sampling aout a dozen, we decided the Friendly Fisherman was the best. Just to be sure we checked it for consistency. Tough work but someone had to do it.

I’ve been to a bunch of places here, mate, but not those ones. However, there’s so much here for a small town, it’s crazy! Just had a great burger at a place called Black Cow, enjoying it with a local gose. Feel like I need a month here! Certainly haven’t regretted opting for Portland! Love it!

FINALLY a shout out for Cape Cod.  Friendly Fisherman is great.  If you're in Cambridge Alive and Kicking has fantastic lobster sandwiches....

My sister lives in Portland and so I get to visit/eat a few times a year

Portland Lobster Co is great for lobster rolls

Eventide is one my favorite restaurants anywhere.

Eventide is amazing!  One of our favorites as well.  We go to Portland a few times a year.  Courtyard Marriott is central to everything and allows dogs; so it's an easy choice for us.  The Eventide lobster roll is on the small side, but tastier & more succulent than other places.

Please don't take me as argumentative - I've eaten bushels of steamers. Anymore I just think they're nasty, and prefer the overall character of little necks. Everthing tastes better on the grill! Some of the best lobster I've had were grilled tails down in Newport RI.

I think I like Florida stone crab claws more than lobster.

I'll never turn up my nose at a good lobster roll. And I'm not being argumentative. I prefer fried clams. I think that on the list of North Atlantic delicacies fried clams are up there with the best.

I use to clam for steamers as a summer job growing up on Cape Cod.  45-100 lbs a day I would dig daily.  I too am not a fan of steamers.  I'll take little necks or oysters all day long.  Shell fish isn't so good for you as it is.  One of the hardest foods to digest and the chance of getting sick is reasonably assured.

Best revenge is putting a raw steamer inside someone's car in the summer and let it rot in the sun & heat.  They'll never get that smell out.

I was just coming in to say that, delicious as they can be, excellent lobster rolls can be found pretty easily throughout New England.

Truly great Clam Rolls/Fried Clams are a rarer and more wonderful beast IMO.

I love pulling Lobster traps.  I hope some day to have a some of my own.  It's a drum roll each time you are pull the line up.  Could be full of lobsters, could have some fish, could have both, or nothing.  They'll eat the bait and figure out how to leave.  Disappointment is when you have a huge lobster, but it's an "egger" and must be thrown back in the water.
