Had a bit of a herf with the boys tonight. Looked forward to the good cigars, whisky, and company. I brought a few each of Monte 2's and PSD4's. Both were 24:24 purchases. I have had a couple of the Monte 2's and boy have the been "on". I was really looking forward to lighting up a PSD4 though. I cut it, toast it...5 minutes later it's out. Re-light. Out in 2 minutes. Tunneling like mad. Toss it. Cut and light another. Overpacked. Draw is as tight as as...well, you know. Struggle through half of it. Toss it. Light a Monte 2. Pure bliss.

 

I hope the rest of the PSD4 aren't like the first two.

Monte 2s have been as consistent over the last 12 months as they've ever been for me. I never had any luck with them until late 16-early 17 and now I can't go wrong. To be fair, none have been superb, but solid 92-93 pointers for sure. 

PSD4 and PSD5 have also been very inconsistent for me for as long as I can recall. I'm not a fan of the blend anyway but for every good one I smoke I smoke a terrible one. The PSD4 I was handed at the Partagas Festival intro dinner in Nov was downright awful.

Been there. 

 

I hear that Perfect Draw does wonders.  Have at least one Talisman that looks to be 2 sticks worth of tobacco.  Might invest just to save the one....

I’ve used the perfecdraw on numerous occasions to resurrect great cigars (I’m lookin at you, monte 4s...) that would have been tossers without it. 

It’s almost always just that the cigar is overpacked at the top inch by tbe cap. Bore that sucker out and bam! A ‘plugged’ tosser is back to its former glory

PerfectDraw saved 2 sticks this week. Pretty much a guarantee it will pay for itself in short order...
